Does anyone remember that old television show, "The Waltons"? Well, for the past few weeks, I have been dreaming about them. In my dreams, I am always visiting them. In the first dream, I had dinner with them, and they took me for a walk all around Walton's Mountain. In the second dream, I was sitting with John Boy and we were sharing our writing. In the third dream, which I had last night, I dreamed that it was breakfast time at their house, where I had stayed overnight. I was pouring some cereal from a brand new box of cereal, and out of the box fell a huge dead tarantula. Very strange. It kind of creeped me out. The other dreams had been very pleasant and happy. But this one scared me, because I am horrified of spiders....especially tarantulas.
I was just wondering if anyone out there interprets dreams, and has any ideas what these dreams are trying to say to me...

Honestly - do you ever fall asleep with Walton re-runs on TV? My wife occasionally dozes off and dreams a part of whatever she last heard on TV or radio before she slipped into the deeper sleep. Just a thought!
Good night cheryl.
Laurie, a very interesting comment with regard to "sitting down to dinner". As a child, this is one of the consistently happy memories I have of my childhood...sitting down each night to dinner as a family. This is also something that I have tried (and failed) to emulate in my own family, because it seems everyone is always going in twenty different directions.
Virginia...I like the idea that the dead spider might represent an unfounded fear. I was afraid it might be some kind of omen of something bad going to happen.
Good night John Boy....lol
Joy, I did see The Walton's for the first time in years about a month ago, so I'm sure that's what got the dreams started.
Native American symbolism sees the spider archetype as the keeper of the past and its connection to the future. Spider is the symbol of Fate, the weaver of the past into the future, a teacher, a destroyer, even a trickster. Depending on the details of the dream, it could also be symbolic of a smothering individual in your daily life.
Usually, though, they are more consistent with Carl Jung's interpretation, "a symbol of wholeness due to its circular shape. He called circular symbols 'mandalas' and said that they had valuable meaning for the dreamer. The spider and his web may be calling for an integration of the dreamer's personality leading to greater self-awareness and resulting in feelings of completeness. Therefore, the spider and his web may be considered profound and spiritual dream symbols which call for greater self-understanding and encourage us to derive meaning and satisfaction from the intricate framework and interplay of life." Spiders have represented a deepening of a sense of connection to the world, a physical and psychological symbol of the "string theory" of quantum mechanics. Everything is, in some way, connected.
When your life has undergone a massive and turbulent change, spiders appear as malevolent creatures, attacking and feeding on you. This symbolizes the perception that your' energies (life-force, if you will) are being drained by outside sources, and the feelings of entrapment and helplessness that surrounded them.
The fact that this is a show that you viewed in the past it might indicate the linking of something from this past to your' future. Of course, it could also mean nothing, but, the fact that the scenario is repetitive indicates a deeper meaning...it's trying to tell you something. Maybe someone is using you? A relative, perhaps...that was also prominent in your' life back in the days of "The Waltons" TV series.
Just a thought.
Spiders number is 8.
Do tell if the series continues!
love and light to you
The Waltons are "All-American"....and "all American" usually has something to do with FREEDOM.
If a spiderWRITER is dead, then perhaps FREEDOM OF THE PRESS has been compromised, if this is not a personal dream but rather a dream of group consciousness.........
Or
If it's a personal dream, then have you checked with your heart lately to see whether you're following it all the way? Is there some writing you're holding back, or something to do with healing/writing?
Best wishes-----take what you need and leave the rest!
// I dream of spiders when I'm ignoring my writing. Since your spider was dead, it might be a message to reawaken someone dormant in you.// - Layla

Tarantulas are BIG. Did you start something big a number of years ago?
However, you are not included entirely within the family structure since they take you outside their family circle for a walk "around." "Around" is not within, nor is it inclusive, but keeps you on the edge.
Sitting with John Boy is significant because you are "sitting" as a learner does with a teacher. "Sharing our writing" is an elusive phrase because it hints at a cooperative piece but I don't think you mean that. I think it's a situation of "you show yours and I'll show mine" type of sharing. You seek a mentor, a beneficent teacher or a role model.
"Breakfast time" equates to new beginnings, dawning of experience. You "stayed overnight" indicates biding time, not necessarily enjoying or benefiting from it, but idling. So you didn't find what you needed and the new dawn is a dawning of realization. This is evidenced by the cereal box which should have nurtured you but instead delivered a "death" of sorts. You are looking for love, acceptance, recognition in all the wrong places.
