My Mom was born in 1923, and spent most of her growing-up-years in a logging town in Thurston County, Washington. She often spoke off-the-cuff, but she came close to getting herself in real trouble as she visited her bank one day in the 1980's.
She was accompanied by my brother who had given her a ride to the bank, and as some families do, they both had accounts there too. Mom completed her banking transactions, but my brother was just beginning his, so my mom walked over to him and said in a loud, clear voice while pointing to one of the many columns in the lobby, "I'll wait over there and hold up the bank". Immediately, she knew what she had said, and she waited for the security people to take her into custody. When they didn't rush up and slap her in handcuffs she came to the conclusion that she must have looked rather harmless after all.

Thanks for sharing the anecdote.
Roxanne, yes, that is her picture, taken in the 1940's.
Thanks for all the nice comments everyone. Mom would be proud to be "notorious". :)
