Disneyland during the Holidays


I have never been to Disneyland during the Holidays.  Our family decided to go at this time of year this time mainly because we hoped the park would not be so busy right after Thanksgiving.  While the attendance at the park was moderate during our trip the best part is how Disneyland transforms itself during the Holidays.  The park decorated to the extreme with Christmas trees, garland, and Disney characters in Christmas attire.  Two of the rides get complete makeovers for the holidays.
 
It’s a Small World features Christmas traditions from all over the world.  The song is changed to incorporate Christmas songs.
 
My favorite ride makeover is the Haunted Mansion.  This ride is totally changed inside and out to feature the “Nightmare before Christmas”.   I was amazed at how much the ride was changed it was like a completely new ride.  The characters from a “Nightmare Before Christmas” have completely taken over the Mansion.  
 
In my opinion, the Magic Kingdom becomes even more magical during the holiday season.

Did you stay for the snowfall at night? It is beautiful there during Christmas time. I like Downtown Disney... it's free to stroll thru and listen to live music and watch the fireworks, have a cup of coffee and wander thru the Grand Californian Hotel.

Yes. I saw the fireworks and the snowfall. It was strange seeing snow fall in Anaheim but I guess that is all part of the magic. I also loved the fireworks that explode into a smiley face missing its two front teeth perfectly timed to the Christmas song "all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth"!

I stayed at the Disney Hotel this time. Last time I stayed at the Grand California.

Disneyland and World, are both such AWESOME places!! I can't wait to take the kids back one day. I can imagine how much more magical it would be at holiday time. Never thought about going during this time of year, but now I think that's exactly what I'd like to do. :o) Thanks for sharing this info with us David.

I LOVE Disney! I ran the Disneyworld Marathon in January and we ran through each of the 5 theme parks. The race started with fireworks rather than a gun going off. Everything was true Disney style...ya gotta love that creativity!

I love Disneyland, and prefer it to Disneyworld. I've only been in the summer, never during the holidays.

I went to Disneyland a couple times during the holidays. I enjoyed the decorations, but I didn't stay for the snow or the fireworks. It sounds like I really missed out. The park was a little too crowded for my taste, but it's always a blast anyway.

What a neat idea for a trip. I guess you liked it so much, you went back again this year :)
