I came across some old pictures from when my daughters were small and decided they had a story to tell.
In July 1985 we went to visit my Mom and we stayed over night. I forget all the details but we heard about a dog that just had some puppies. The Mom was pretty huge, but those puppies were relatively small and they were so cute. I just had to have one of those puppies. So I spoke with the owner and picked out a puppy and brought it home to my Mom’s place. My girls thought he was totally adorable, and he seems to think they were pretty neat too.
We had a pretty fun day playing with the puppy. Then night time came. My Mom said the puppy had to stay outside. She was not really fond of dogs of any kind, and my dad thought all dogs belonged outside anyhow. Of course it was July, so the dog would certainly be warm enough. Only one problem that poor little puppy started to miss his Mommy and his brothers and sisters. He said up crying and wouldn’t stop. I remembered once that a ticking alarm clock might remind a puppy of his mom’s heart beat. So I borrowed my father’s alarm clock. The puppy was not fooled. I keep calling him the puppy because I no longer remember if we had picked out a name for him or not. I think we all fell asleep to the sound of that crying puppy! I think if I could have I would have snuck him inside with me or else gone out to sleep beside him.
The next morning I got up and went out to see how he was faring, no puppy. He was gone. My first thought was that the puppy had decided to go on home. His owners only lived a mile or so from us. How ever my dad came out and started calling for the puppy and we found him hiding in the bushes.
My hubby arrived later on that day, and we told him all about the puppy. He brought me down to earth. That puppy would grow in to a HUGE dog. Besides which we were moving and really had no idea if we could even have pets at the house we would be living in. Someday, maybe we could own a puppy, but not today!
Sadly I put the puppy in the car and took him back to his owner. He understood my predicament and kindly took the puppy back. I was glad that it was quick, the puppy had not yet bonded with us and was glad to see his mommy and brothers and sisters again!
And that is the story of our little puppy that we had for one night!!
Oh by the way can anyone identify the breed of this puppy, maybe it is just a Heiz 57,

I'm glad the breeder took the puppy back though! Did you ever get a dog in the end?
