oh, such glory to wake up to snow! it is grey and wet out, with big fat flakes coming down. mist is covering the lake, cocooning us in its weightlessness.

 all the schools for 5 counties around are closed. i can just imagine the great fun that all the kids are having! with much reluctance, lillie changed from her princess dress to warmer clothes...

lillie and i went outside this morning - lillie to get some snow to eat, and me to take some photos. i wish it was brighter out, but you can see how gorgeous it is here!! come along with us...no snow boots required.

Beautiful, Jessie. Now that it's December, I guess I'm ready for snow. We don't have any as yet, but we have had a couple nights of sub-zero windchill, so we may as well go for the whole package.

Beautiful Jessie! Please send the snow this way! It is in the 70's here today! We broke a record yesterday with 78! But, we'll be in the 20's by Monday, hopefully some snow will come along with the change in temperature!

thanks, everyone! i love winter!! it makes me happy. esp now that we don't live in minnesota with its -50 temps. i still miss the other half of the year there, though!!

Jessie, These are absolutely gorgeous. I am sooooooo homesick everytime I see snow. I live in Ky and we just don't get much at all. I am from Chicago originally. Thank You for sharing your winter wonderland!!!!

They are alllllllllll beautiful...I really like the first one...the quiet beauty of snow is to some of us a gift..almost a religious experience...where while you walk in that first quiet, you can connect with your soul....the first is always spectacular...as is the beginning of spring...Mother Nature has more than enough beauty to go around!

Beautiful...but cold. It's in the 70's here in southern CA today...a beautiful cloudless day. Even though it's been 50 years (!) since I lived there, I remember Michigan winters. The first snowfall is beautiful, but by February or March, I was always ready for summer!

Jessie these are beautiful! I love the first snow. There's something magical about it. I like the picture with the berries. The contrast of red, green and white is so pretty!

The photos are wonderful and show the world that so-called bad weather has its beauty. We've also had a major snowstorm--probably from the same weather pattern. The plows and salt trucks continue to work. Although I had a lot of things to do at home, I went for a walk with my camera this morning. But along the roadsides, the cars had already made the snow into gray glop.

I just love snowy days like that. I think I prefer them when the lakes are frozen though.The greyness is always so soft and sound is very deadened. Like you said a cocooning.

I adore winter! And especially the days when fat snowflakes swirl down thickly. You have captured the joy of winter so beautifully. I have nothing but the deepest pity for those who live in places where they never enjoy all the loveliness of winter, and cannot imagine living in such a place myself.

It hasn't snowed here in Philadelphia yet this year, but last year it snowed in early November. I am looking forward to our snow, and will try to take pictures of the beauty of cityscapes in the snow to share with you.
