Well today I got around to moderating Art Flower and found some great articles which were not on point...petal point, that is.
May I explain?
The first few weeks after I joined Gather, I didn't always understand about Group postings and how they worked--dazed and confused was I.
Now that I've tended a few Groups myself, I see the reason why some of my articles were removed--and still sometimes are removed--from Groups.
1. When a guest, a visitor, or a Group member click on a Group link for a little schmoozin' time, they expect to see the content they are led to believe is contained therein as promised--usually from the Group's name.
Art Flower seems descriptive enough to me--photos or artwork of flowers with accompanying articles on flowers, gardening, petals and such. Personal stories concerning flowers, that sort of thing.
What do flowers--or certain varieties of flowers--mean to you?
Pretty straightforward.
2. Plus, if unrelated content is found in the clicked-upon Group, it makes the moderator look--shall we say, neglectful--of their very own offspring...as if they're been left to wander about like orphans cast upon their own lack of resources. That's not good.
So I am sorry to say that although I tarried all through November about removing stuff (it's excruciating), and yes, I usually send along a private email to the author, today I found there were several articles to remove...so I'm writing this in hopes that no feathers will be ruffled if you receive one of those "your article has been removed" emails, impersonal as they are.
It is never my intention to be impersonal or unfair--and if I remove an article or image from any of my Groups, you may always contact me if you disagree. Discussion is good! And since we are each the "flowering of our generations", you are each an important part of Art Flower Group.
And so in closing I gladly say, thanks for your cooperation and your understanding, my Art Flowers, for you are all that and more to me!
Flower On,
Jude
ps: will also publish this notice in my other Groups: Art Mavens, Nostalgia Pix, Political Astrology, Cat Culture, fishytales, and Collage Mirage.

Sheesh, I seem to have Annie Oakley and the posse on the brain these days! But I'm allergic to being being the "sheriff"! ;D
oh, wait a minute. what i meant to say is, "thank you very much for the informative and entertaining article, jude. you are a pleasure and an asset to the gather community."
love me?
;D hearts'n'flowers on the way...check your doorstep....
Joanne, some flowers would be loverly!!
Shannon, I've not seen your name yet with my good if squinty eye on the post office wall...but if I do get a bead on your Wanted Poster, I'll take proper actions then, you betcha! ;)
The Round-Up continues, pardners....
this is your basic description here:
"Art Flower seems descriptive enough to me--photos or artwork of flowers with accompanying articles on flowers, gardening, petals and such. Personal stories concerning flowers, that sort of thing."
i am only responding to this and not what your Art Flower Group description might also include.
my questions concerning this description here:
it says: works "...with accompanying articles on flowers, gardening, petals and such. Personal stories concerning flowers, that sort of thing." - some of my images are flowers with a haiku or tanka or other poem/writing but no article is accompanying it. do i understand that these would be inappropriate for the group as they do not have an accompanying article but only an image with or without a poem?
and
if there is an article with the image, but it is focused on the process of the creation or it is just the poem rather than focusing on the floral aspect of the image itself, would this be inappropriate for the group as well?
thanks for your time. - aloha - Wrick.
If you click under the title of this article on 'Art FLower' you should find it! Cheers, jc
