I have china, crystal & silver flatware in boxes, do you use yours?

Like every good bride-to be, 11 years ago I registered for a Royal Doulton china, for my wedding registry. I honestly never even considered I would get it.

I have all of my china including my holiday china, and gold accented silver flatware in boxes unopened. I have never used it and honestly do not ever see myself using it, it all has gold accents and must be handwashed, nope I am not going to do that! ;-O

I am such a causal person, I have a set of Mikasa dinnerware it is white, I use that for everyday. I bought a set of red and I have added a few holiday pieces from JC Penney & Target this is what I use every holiday for 10 years now, a few times a year for larger groups I use chinet.

Every time I say I am going to sell the unsued pieces my family has an issue with it, what am I to use if I entertain, they say. If I have not used it in 10 years why in the heck would they think I am going to use it now? I don't ever see myself using it.

 What do you use to entertain & for holidays?

Real china and fancy silverware...never had any, never will. I don't entertain. I have a punch bowl from Princess House and have only used it once. At my wedding almost four years ago and it has been collecting dust in the box ever since. And I couldn't tell you how many years it had collected dust before that. I have a lot of stuff like that that never gets used. So why do I keep it? That is a good question. I haven't found a good answer yet.

nope...the china is packed up goodness knows where, the crystal is still in a box from Ireland and the silver is in a chest somewhere in a closet. I'm not that fancy of a person and I hate to hand wash things too! LOL

My fine stuff is in boxes in the attic. My mom has a nice china cabinet with all her stuff we usally go there anyway.

I don't have a china cabinet right now so my china is still in the boxes. When we have a special dinner though I will use my good china and crystal.

I doubt even if I had a china cabinet, i would use the fancy stuff (my hubby's name for it). I was never one to hand wash anything.

Lenox China....used maybe 6 times in 31 years, Fostoria Crystal about the same. I have them both in a china cabinet so at least I can look at them. Sterling flatware, at my mother's house, never used. Maybe I can melt it down someday for some great silver jewelry!

I have a set of china that is 60 years old it belonged to my mother-in-law. But I wanted to say I have three sons. And have missed out on how wonderful it would be to have a daughter. Royal Doulton, you hear it talked about on the BBC Shows. And you are refined enough to know what it is the english would love you.

Charlene, I looked at my china a minute ago, I feel bad it is sitting unusd as is the cyrstal & silver flat ware. I like it but it is beuautiful, I set my table once with it to see how it looked and I admit it is impressive. I may be inspired to use it all this Christmas.

I have my china, my Mother's china, and my crystal in my china cabinet in the dining room. I drag the stuff out on holidays or special occasions. That's all.

Oh for heaven' s sake, I would say the family wants you to GIVE THEM the unused items. I would either A. Getit all out and have them come and pick out their "inheritance" or B, just go ahead and sell the stuff to a place that resells used china and flatware or put the stuff up on ebay and then use the money to buy christmas presents or put it away for a rainy day. Don't hold on to it because they have issues, youa re the one who has to store the stuff!

I have never had fine china or fancy silverware. I have never even had a desire for it. I do entertain quite often but it is not my dishes they come for...........it is the food. I am a country gal. I cook old fashioned food and my guests love it. My corelle set is good enough. I do have several sets though. It is nothing for 50 - 60 family and friends to come for dinner. I do this at least 6 times a year. The other times I entertain, we usually have 20-30.

LOL Leslie it's my mom & sister making the most fuss. My mom has 3 sets of china & my sister lives with my mom.

I currently have waterford Crystal and Lenox China, I am getting married in June and we registered for Vera Wang China and Waterford Crystal...I am so excited to get them and use them

I use my everyday dishes only because all my good stuff is still in the shed in boxes. It has been for about eight years. I'm going to get my kitchen remodeled someday. lol

I have ample storage space, I just hate to see this all go unused, I am torn part of me wants to keep it is beautiful, but the reasonable part of me knows I probably never will use this. I have become such a casual person as I get older, wonder why that is?
