We sit in our pristine churches,
in our mansions made of glass;
We pray for those who have nothing,
but when we see them, we walk past.
We congregate, try to legislate,
but forget those in need;
We worry more about who is gay
than the fact there are hungry children to feed.
We fear those who look different than us,
forgetting they are human too;
We forget that Jesus lives in them
and that we are to love them too.
We help those who we see as worthy
and leave the others for dead;
We see the Aids epidemic
and simply turn our heads.
When will we wake up?
When will we finally see
that the entire world is our neighbor,
and love begins with you and with me.

NWJ Keep up the good work and God bless (+=-)
This is pretty terrific. Truth straight at you.
when I reach to help a soul
Too many speak of me in jest
when they call me bold.
For some reason it fails
that so called love within
Many walk with head in air
I call it a walk in sin.
Good stuff, Cheryl
and your talk talks,
but your walk talks
more than your talk talks.
Famous words from a wise man...
I don't know who but I wish I did.
Insightful and incisive commentary, Cheryl.
Only a deeply believing spiritual Christian could have written this from the inside out. Great work, Cheryl.
