In an article published in the December issue of Vogue, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough (aka design house: Proenza Schouler) talk to Vogue writer Robert Sullivan about being the next Go International Designers! What does this mean for you dear Target fans? It means that once again Target has gone after and successfully wooed a coveted high-end label to make a discounted limited edition line for their stores.
In the article appropriately titled "bulls-eye!", Vogue discusses the fashion-forward mentality of Target and how it is revolutionizing the quality of clothing that 20-somethings on a limited clothing budget can buy without spending their rent money in the process. The fact that Target has garnered headlines in Vogue is quite a feat for a discount retailer in itself.
Target fans have already enjoyed the Go International designers since last year- right now the current designer is Behnaz Sarafpour; previously Luella Bartley, Sophie Albou (Paul & Joe) and Tara Jarmon have made collections for Target stores under this program. Proenza Schouler will not debut their Target line until February 2007-- in the meantime Jack and Lazaro fans can just dream of PS's famous corset/bustier dress which will be mass-produced for $40 in 3 short months! This dress (if you can get to the high-end retailer to get one) would have set you back thousands of dollars a few years ago. I absolutely can't wait until February!
A nice tidbit of information to trickle down the wire as an early X-mas present for us avid Target fans!
