My best friend had this checklist and I had made a copy of it. It should help anyone who is just starting out sewing, and maybe remind a few that have forgotten these.

It's easy to see if you've laid all the pattern  pieces out correctly. This list takes the guesswork away. Just fill in the blanks and you're ready to cut!

Checklist

Have I preshrunk my fabric? By machine washing or dry cleaning. _________________________

Is my fabric on grain? Both ends are square and line up table edge. _______________________

Have I circled the correct cutting layout? My view is ________. My size is _______. My fabric width is ________.

Is my fabric folded evenly and according to the layout diagram? Selvage edges are even. _______ Raw edges are even and straight. ________ Fabric folded double has wrong sides out._________

Have I used all the pieces shown on the layout? There are _____ pieces with these letters ______. All pins are within the seam allowance. ______

Grainline checkpoint: Pieces with curved double-pointed arrows are letters _______ and are laid on the fold. Pieces with straight arrows are letters ______ and have both ends of the arrow even from the edge of fabric. ______

Pieces shown with grey (dots): Are placed upside down. ______

Pieces which say "Cut Four" or "Cut One": I mark them with an X on the pattern piece ______ and allowed room on my fabric. ______ Fabric should be refolded to cut them.
