Our Thanksgiving started out on a rather sad note. My mom recently had knee surgery so my parents couldn’t make it. My sister Robin’s fiancé and my sister Shelley both had to work this weekend, so they couldn’t come. And my brother and his wife had plans with her family. It was the quietest Thanksgiving Day ever. And the first time our family hasn’t been together on Turkey Day.
Dinner was delicious- and for the most part, traditional. Even the doggies got a dish full of goodies, and they rarely get people food. Neither one was too impressed with the cranberries, though.
Menu was as follows:
Gourmet Cheese/Crackers
Mom’s Cheese Ball
Caribbean Pumpkin Soup (Thanks, Trav!)
Brined and Roasted Turkey
Sweet Potato Souffle (Thanks DeeDub!)
Alton’s Mashed Potatoes
Mom’s Stuffing
White Wine Gravy
Green Beans with Hazelnut Butter
Cranberry Walnut Relish
Sourdough Bread
Maple Pumpkin Cheesecake with Maple Pecan Cream
Of course, we ate until we were completely stuffed, and just relaxed and watched the Lions lose. I could just hear my dad cussing all the way through the game though.
Tomorrow I think I will actually venture out to do some clothes shopping, this will be the first time I recall ever shopping on the day after Thanksgiving. Wish me luck! You might see me on the news fighting over the latest MUST HAVE electronic gadget. Or not.

Gotta see what movies are on HBO tonite, if I can stay awake :)
You are right, and I should be mindful of not what is missing, but what I have right in front of me :)
And we will have more leftovers then usual. I suppose I should have cooked a little less.
You know what we had since I saw your comment at my article ;-)
