Gales, fitful wind spits,
Billows of icy air howl,
Flail tormented trees.

That sounds good for a holiday weekend, Mark. We're flirting with storms that seem somehow friendly in their bluster--although they might mess with a good game of "catch" with the grandkids.

Your 'tormented trees' startled me. I liked the description. Reading this made me realise that I have often viewed trees as participating in severe weather rather than victims of it. Odd perspective maybe. :)
