Episode recap (original airdate - 11/21/06):
Lorelai's house. Lorelai is on the phone with Rory's voicemail, telling her to call her back asap. Christopher brings her coffee from the kitchen and tells her to chill. Chris then suggests adding a waterfall, a barka-lounger and a flat screen to the living room and Lorelai doesn't respond well. He presses for more changes and she continues resisting. Rory calls her. Lorelai says they'll tell her about the Paris trip at dinner, and Rory says she has a study group and can't come. Lorelai insists (by telling a strange tale about snails) and Rory relents. Chris remarks on the weirdness of the snails story, and Lorelai laments that Rory doesn't already know that she and Chris got married. Lorelai waffles about telling Rory by herself, and Chris insists that they should tell her together. The pair heads out to look for snails.
Outside Rory's apartment. Rory is on the phone with Logan talking about sports. She goes inside the apartment and Logan is there waiting for her. She hugs him and chides him for not telling her he was coming. He tells her that the launch party will be tonight at 9, and she says she'll come after dinner with her parents. Logan praises Bobbi's arrangement-making skills, and Rory looks displeased, saying she's not happy that Bobbi isn't a big swarthy dude. Logan tells her that he's going to apartment-hunt in New York, and Rory is thrilled that he's moving back from London, but disappointed that he won't be moving back in with her. Luke's apartment. Luke and April sit down to dinner and talk about Luke's encounter with a bear. April talks about some of her school-gossip and Luke is clearly very into his daughter's life. Luke is surprised when he finds out that she'll be attending a boy/girl party. Luke asks if there will be kissing at the party and April freaks out. They change the subject and dinner awkwardly continues. Lorelai's house. Rory arrives and greets her parents. Lorelai shows her the snails she cooked and Rory is surprised. Rory asks about the trip when they sit down at the kitchen table, and Lorelai pours her some wine. Lorelai stalls when Rory asks what else they did in Paris. Lorelai tells her that she and Chris got married, and Rory congratulates them and says it's great. They tell the story, and Rory repeats that she's happy for them. Chris goes to get champagne from the cooler in the garage and Lorelai asks her what she really think. Rory tells her that she's really mad, but that she wants to put on a happy face for her dad.
Logan's launch party. Rory arrives and greets Logan. She tells him that her mom got married in France and that she's not happy about it. Logan offers to go chat outside and she declines, insisting that it's his night. Logan shows her some of the people attending. Logan's co-workers approach and greet her enthusiastically. Bobbi approaches as well and tells Rory that her dress is cute, and Rory looks uncomfortable. A random guy approaches and talks on and on about his new construction project until Bobbi leads him away to meet someone else. Logan introduces her to a journalist, and then leaves him and Rory to talk. He tells Rory she should submit a piece to his online journal. Lorelai's porch. Lorelai is leaving what sounds like the last of many, many messages on Rory's voicemail. She begs Rory to call her back to talk about Chris. Rory's apartment. Logan reads Rory's newspaper article about the Launch Party while Rory talks on and on, and deletes her mom's voicemail message. Logan is hurt and angry about the article she wrote. Rory apologizes and says she was just trying to be funny when she poked fun at the people at the party, but he's really upset. Logan accuses her of thinking she's morally superior, and points out that she's not paying any rent. She gets upset.
Luke's apartment. April is at the kitchen table wrapping the birthday present with newspaper. She acts like she doesn't feel well, and Luke repeatedly asks if she's feeling all right, but she insists she's ok. Luke talks to her about kissing and tells her he shouldn't do it, even if all of the other kids are. He makes her promise she won't 'juggle' (the substitute word for 'kiss') with boys. She agrees. He insists she's sick after she stumbles around a little. He tells her she can't go to the party, and she gets upset and tells him he sucks as a dad. Lorelai's house. Lorelai and Chris argue over items in Chris's laundry basket, including a t-shirt she'd been missing for 22 years. Chris moves items into Rory's room, which he points out is now Gigi's room. Lorelai is uncomfortable with the changes and tells him to slow down and wait for Rory's opinions on moving things around. Chris reminds her that though it's difficult, things will change. Lorelai tells him that Rory is upset about the marriage, and Chris is surprised and upset that she didn't tell him the truth. Lorelai insists that Rory just needs time to adjust and Chris looks crestfallen.
Lucy and Olivia's apartment. Rory complains to Lucy and Olivia about Logan's comments about her living rent-free. The girls offer to let her move in with them. Rory insists that she'll figure something out. Olivia finishes reading the article tells her that it was really good, and mean. Rory is upset. Luke's apartment. April lies on her bed while Luke talks to her. He notices that she has a fever, and calls Lorelai in a panic. Lorelai asks what problems she's having, and suggests it might be appendicitis. She tells him to take April to the hospital. Hospital. Luke sits in the waiting room. Lorelai shows up and Luke tells her that she was right and that the operation went fine. They have a nice exchange. The doctor comes out to tell them that April is ready for a visitor, and Luke sees the ring on Lorelai's hand. He just looks at her. He goes to see April, and Lorelai leaves.
Rory's apartment. Logan is talking on the phone. Rory enters, and he apologizes for getting upset with her. Rory says he was right to be upset with her because the article really was mean and judgmental. She says she's really very proud of him, and he says he knows it. He tells her she's a great writer, and they exchange other cute compliments and kiss. Then Rory tells him that she needs to move out of the apartment. Logan answers a knock at the door, and it's Lorelai. Logan leaves. Rory tells Lorelai that she doesn't feel like talking to her. She says she's glad Lorelai and Chris are married, but she's upset that she wasn't there. Lorelai says she didn't call Rory because she didn't want to have the time to talk herself out of getting married. Rory asks if she took Chris' name and she says no because she doesn't want to be Lorelai Gil-less. Lorelai's house. Lorelai moves furniture in Rory/Gigi's room and Chris enters. She recaps her evening (April, Rory) and makes suggestions for changing the room around. April's hospital room. Luke flips through the TV channels while April lies asleep in the hospital bed. He finally stops on 'The Philadelphia Story' (which clearly mirrors his life).

I love seeing Luke be a good daddy. And even more that he called Lorelai when he needed help. Good for him!
Anyway, I was bummed that Lane and Zach weren't in this episode. I LOVE THEM! They're so funny and have such great lines.
I'm not furiously anti-L/C at this point, though I DO think Lorelai married him way too soon after walking away from Luke. And that scene in the hospital last night when Luke saw the ring and just looked at her? Just about broke my heart. Seriously. I almost cried. I agree with Cindy - L/C aren't going to last long, IMO. I just wonder what they're going to do to resolve the whole April/Ana issue.... Maybe I'll have to go off and read some spoilers.... ;)
I just like that Lorelei is herself with Christopher. When she had a problem with the way he was dealing with his kid, she yelled at him about it. When Luke was being totally ridiculous about his kid, she suffered in silence, which is totally unlike her. I couldn't stand her character last year because she was being such a wimp, while Luke treated her badly. I'm glad to see she has returned to being mostly outspoken again, because that's what I like best about her character.
And Luke is just so CRABBY. GOD. If I had to deal with someone raining on my parade that often, I'd club him.
Besides, that awesome date with the car and the movie on the side of the barn...and the cute scene with Lorelei, Rory, and Chris in the car...and the dinner in Paris...what's not to love? Yeah, Christopher was a douche back in the day, but people can change and he seems to have his priorities somewhat in order now.
I know they are going to contrive something with Grandpa Gilmore to break them up, but I don't think after last season I'm going to be happy about the return of Luke, because he was a total jackmonkey last year.
The movie date was awesome, I agree. And he's definitely more 'grown up' now than ever before, but I can't get past the whole 'jumping in the sack with someone who JUST broke up with her fiance' thing, regardless of the fact that they were HS sweethearts, had Rory, and so on. Their history means little to me - she was vulnerable and instead of stepping back and letting her get over Luke, he said something akin to 'awesome! I can score!' And that wasn't fair. Honestly (and I know this is a stretch but bear with me ;) ), I think she might have slept with Kirk had he been around and offering a listening ear. She was THAT upset.
I agree about her being more herself around Chris, but she hasn't been upfront with him, either. Like last night - she didn't come out and tell him that Rory was upset about their Paris wedding. She sort of slipped up and told him by accident. I don't really see her being her true self with either man, to be honest.
I like Chris. I think he loves Lorelai but I think this marriage is to be short lived. And I am a L/L fan, I admit it. :)
I agree with you that she isn't really herself with either man. I do like Luke and have rooted for them to be together, but I don't really see them together other than within a coffee shop Starrs Hollow dynamic, they go together if they never ever leave Starrs Hollow, but don't really fit anywhere else. She does have a history with Christopher and the banter between them is quite amusing, but I am not sure if that is a chemistry or a history and how that implements in a day to day relationship.
I never really could picture her in a permanent relationship with anyone she dated actually, with Max, with Luke, with Christopher, each indulged her in a way and each fixed something for her or came to her rescue in a way, for being a general independant sort, it seems she is rather reliant on a guy fixing something for her, yet she never acknowledges the seriousness of the relationship to her parents or other important people.
Realistically, the manner in which she banters with any man she is dating probably would make most relationships seem to have some chemistry to some degree. Except that hooking up with Kirk comment - that is an image that will replace the monster in my nightmares now!
