I noticed a lot of sticklers for spelling here on Gather. What word do you think is one missplelled the most?

Remember when we were younger when we would say the same thing at the same time we'd say coke. The 1st one to say it owes ya a coke.

Isn't it true that it's always toward and never towards? Or the other way around? That's one that I always get confused.
vicki I do spell weird the opposite way. I can only remember where to place the i & e,expept when I sing that tune.

I work at a university and have had to explain to several students the differences between their, there, and they're. Shouldn't they have learned that back in grade school???

then and than... they are NOT the same word, nor do they mean the same thing and I see that many people don't seem to know the difference.

I'd have to say that the word "the" is most often mistyped and if you don't have or don't use spell check it gets left that way.

I used to be excellent at spelling, I used to proofread letters when I was working. Now I can't spell for beans!!

I do that myself. Oh well this group is for reading and seeing pictures. I stopped worring about my spelling unless I am writing to get payed.

Using apostrophes on verbs in the third person singular of the present tense. It drives me **crazy**!!
