Buy low sell high is a group meeting of the minds for those of us who buy and sell antiques, collectibles,jewelry, pottery,paintings or anything which you hope to make a profit on. This is also the place to write about lessons learned and what you have experienced while on these endeavors. I noey1958 first got hooked when I bought a painting for $4.95 and sold it at auction for $450 a couple months later! or the time I bought $2 earrings and they said 22kt in arabic! Didn't sell them I gave them as a gift. You must have some good experiences you would like to share? grab a keyboard and go to town!
Some rules are no profanity no matter what the)*&(^% thing was worth! keep the length readable and no real estate please! If I hear one more $20,000 house turn into half a million,( and because I did'nt buy one) I think I will throw up! Please tell us tips and comman mistakes made by newbies when starting to sell.

I have a beautiful landscape oil painting by F. Holzer. One much like it is in the permanent collection at the kansas City Library. Has anyone heard of this artist or know anything more about this artist? I know there is a Franz Holzer born in Austria in 1946. Anyone have any other knowledge? thanks

A few years ago my roomie took me to a hamfest (a flea market for ham radio operators) and I wandered across this old GE radio from 1936. Beautiful wood cabinet, it stands about 4' tall from the floor, no scratches, all original tubes, all original everything (except for the cat eye tuner) and when I asked the guy what he wanted for it he said, "how much you got?". Well, between the 2 of us we had $50 left cash... so that's what I offered him, fully expecting him to laugh in my face. He snatched up the cash, we pulled the Blazer up to his booth and off we went with the old radio that he said worked perfectly. All the way home, roomie (who's a broadcast engineer) said, "yeah, right... it works". I didn't care if it worked or not, I just thought it was gorgeous! Got it home, plugged it in... and AFTER it warmed up for a few minutes... it worked! Best bargain I've EVER found in my life (and I've been offered up to $900 for it).

Thank you Beth! ,Just what I wanted to hear when I published this article! You hit the nail on the head! Now I bet that this radio is just accumulating value as it sits! Always do an ebay search to see what current values are and make sure your house insurance reflects this. God forbid a disaster happens and you dont have this wonderful radio insured. You probably couldn't replace it, no matter what the price. I too use to sell at a HAMFEST once a year in Whitman ma. I have long since given up selling at flea markets due to health problems, but what a great bunch of people
those hammies were. Thank you and come back often.
