In my little town
In my little town
I grew up believing
God keeps his eye on us all
And he used to lean upon me
As I pledged allegiance to the wall
Lord I recall
My little town

I am grateful to Marilyn for this group,
but of course it takes people to raise a Village...
NOT a Village to raise a child,
that takes parents and values taught by them.
But "Our Little Town" can be a place of comfort and healing.
The front porch of old, where we can watch the children play.
Where the ladies can watch the old men getting older and
laugh at the realities of living life, together with friends.
Marilyn is right.
First we gathered...
Good people, OK people and even some mean people...
and thank fully most the mean ones have moved on
then we grouped,
writers in the library,
crafters in my wife's parlor,
thinkers here,
tinkerers over there,
moms on the porch's,
dad's talking politics in the yard by the bar-b-q,
Some move in next door,
others move out...
Things seems to be settling, in a good way Gather is growing
and yet is seems a closer friendlier place...
It as become our Town... and getting big too.
But thats OK because in a big town such as this you have
Neighborhoods...
And so I want to thank you for welcoming me to
Our Neighborhood !

I grew up in a little town. I've been trying to get "back there" every time I move to a new place.
In GatherLand, I'm still trying to figure out which neighborhood to "buy" in, and which I just want to visits lots ...but any town that contains hearts and minds like this one, is surely the right town for me.
Thank you for this. I was having some doubts today. Your timely reminder was well placed.
I grew up in a little town, moved a couple of times and back here I am to stay. Can't even go to the grocery store here without seeing a friend. (it's a good thing!) Maybe people know things about you, your business, but it's done out of concern, and if you're happy, they're happy for you. A small town is just a place where we all care and depend upon each other, like you just said, Webwriter and Emmett, it's all kinds of people with kind hearts and open minds that truly care for one another.
