I just wrote about this over on my blog, and thought I would put it up here in the Immigration Debate groups. From my perspective, illegal is illegal, and those who broke our laws should be held accountable...what's your take on the subject?

Illegal is Illegal, Even for Relatives of 9/11 Victims

There is a move afoot to introduce legislation to grant citizen to illegal aliens whose relatives died in the tragedy that is 9/11. That event was tragic, and my heart goes out to any one who lost a loved one that day. However, feeling compassion for ones loss does not mean we excuse their own criminal activities. Passing legislation to reward illegal aliens citizenship for ANY REASON is wrong.
So far 25 illegal aliens have bee identified as losing loved ones on 9/11...our hearts go out to them, and our government has compensated them for their horrible loss. That being said, we should be implementing deportation of these illegals, returning them to their country of origin. It is not our fault that an illegal cannot get a license, drive a car, or look for work...they of their own free will BROKE OUR LAWS. They, and their family members put themselves in harms way because of their own decisions...we are a nation of laws, and those laws have to be enforced equally and fairly for EVERYONE. If you are here illegally, you should be deported, and if our government has identified these 25 illegals, it is their duty to uphold the law by deporting them back to their home country.
It sounds harsh...yet, would we suggest AMNESTY for illegal aliens who had lost a family member in a car accident, or in a gang shooting? Of course not...it would be, and is a tragic loss for the family, but that does not mitigate the fact they BROKE OUR LAWS, and must be held criminally liable for their wrongful actions.

NEW YORK — In a small meeting room with a view of ground zero, 40 stories below, the woman from Ecuador sat with her attorney, holding a crumpled white napkin that she used to dab her eyes.
She is a Sept. 11 widow. Her husband worked at the Windows on the World restaurant and died that day.
As an illegal immigrant — one of about 25 identified as having lost a family member when the World Trade Center came crashing down — she could face deportation at any time. So could her 17-year-old son, whom she implores to carry around his father's death certificate, in case someone asks him why he is in the U.S.
"I can't get a driver's license. I can't go to apply for a job. I can't work. I can't study. I can't fly. I can't do anything," the 38-year-old woman said in accented English this week as she described how her life in the U.S. is constrained by her illegal status. She spoke on condition that her name not be used, for fear she might be deported.

i don't think illegal aliens respect our laws. i don't know if they even want citizenship and i don't know about their allegiance. but they sure want the benefits of citizenship in this country.
i think we will have to offer them work permits for a temporary amount of time. if they want citizenship, they will have to go back to their country and apply.
Tony, you are correct....$2.1 million goes a LONG way in a country such as Mexico, so someone who is here illegally complaining about not being allowed to drive does not really have a gripe...let them return home.
Tancredo is the one that will solve the illegal invader issues....Vote Tancredo in 2008!!!!
Tancredo: McCain, Giuliani would be disastrous for GOP
'I will do everything I can to make sure those 2 names are not the only options'
PALM BEACH, Fla. %u2013 With political junkies looking ahead to the 2008 presidential race, two of the names often mentioned as leading contenders for the GOP nomination %u2013 John McCain and Rudy Giuliani %u2013 are being called "disastrous" for the Republican Party by Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo.
"Both of those individuals, of course, would be disastrous for us for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is their position on immigration, which is to open the border," Tancredo told WND in an exclusive interview. "I will do everything I can %u2013 whether I'm a candidate for president or just as a member of Congress %u2013 I will do everything I can to make sure those two names are not the only options that people have."
Tancredo, the author of "In Mortal Danger" championing the need to secure America's borders and enforce immigration laws, says he is getting closer to his own run for the presidency, calling it a "distinct possibility."

"AUSTIN - Texas lawmakers are poised to pounce on illegal immigrants when they start their next session in January, filing a slew of get-tough bills including one designed to challenge the automatic citizenship of babies born in the United States.
The bill by Republican state Rep. Leo Berman of Tyler would bar the babies of illegal immigrants from receiving state benefits such as food stamps, health care or public housing."

Another great resource to keep up on the immigration debate is ALIPAC.
My Chinese waiter was fantastic,
no detail was left to chance
My Pakistani hostess was so graceful
I was tempted to ask her to dance
My Honduran busboy remained at the ready
should any minor need arise
And after my dinner, my Cuban concierge
provided a Havanan surprise
My Mexican maid was amazing,
she turned my room in no time flat
and the Romanian gal in the gift shop, well,
she helped me to find just the right hat
My Jamaican cabbie was so happy
to be here in the US of A
that he told me his son was joining
the Marines the very next day
My Afghani doorman had told him
to take me to my stop the shortest way
and my Puerto Rican valet, Benny,
he had held my umbrella while I paid
My Polish bartender at the restaurant
was from the same town that my Grandma's from
and so I want to tell those anti-immigration folks
that the truth is, they're just being dumb
We all came here from somewhere else
Its just a matter of when
And those who have come most recently
might be the best immigrants theres ever been
So let me remind you, while you spit in their face
they bust their ass for us each and every day
They work harder and better, than your spoiled kids,
And they do it for a lot lower pay
They deserve your respect, they've already gotten mine
They deserve your consideration, too
Instead of treating them like dirt, why dont you give a try
to treating them the way that they treat you.
Wake up!! Take the illegals and go back to Mexico with them and fight for their rights/benefits in their own country. They are Mexican citizens. Their healthcare, education, wages, benefits, etc., are the responsibility of the Mexican government--not the US or US citizens. We are not morally or financially responsible for these people. They need to take their fight where it belongs--back to their own countries. They have the right to be treated fairly and humanely until they are deported.
MARCH FOR AMERICA !
Fellow Americans, Patriots, and Brothers and Sisters of the United States of America,
For too long have our voices spoken separately.
For too long have our flags and banners flown in small numbers.
For too long our resources and strengths have been limited.
For too long have we held the same goals and desires, but have been too afraid or too stubborn to come together as one.
Now is the time to put aside our differences, whatever their reason, before it has been too long, and becomes too late!
Close your eyes, picture this scene…
Every parking spot in our nation's capitol is full. The streets are packed full with traffic, bumper to bumper and move at a snails pace. It's a beautiful weekend, the skies are blue and the flags are flying! The crowds at the Washington Monument continue to swell as bus after bus after bus pulls up and empties their cargo of American patriots who join the crowd. The speakers for this event are Chris Simcox, Jim Gilchrest, Ted Hayes, Joe Turner, Congressman Tom Tancredo, Frosty Wooldridge, etc. Charlie Daniels and Ted Nugent provide evening entertainment. American flags are everywhere! Every hotel and motel for miles around is full so many patriots camp right at the monument. So many that law enforcement simply has to allow it to happen, they have no choice. The event lasts for 3 days. All speakers speak loudly for the assembled patriots and DEMAND the federal government enforce our immigration laws! On the final day the event culminates in a march to the White House where American citizens with bullhorns demand immigration law enforcement! No one knows how many people showed up but estimates are from 1 to 1.5 million! Americans had finally had enough!
What if we could really make this happen????
Ladies and Gentlemen of the various Anti-Illegal Immigration, Anti-Aztlan, Anti-La Reconquista, Anti-Nau/Spp/Nafta/ACLU, and other patriotic organizations, we are beseeching you to please no longer stand as separate voices, but unite yourself under one cause and through Unity. Let numbers and cooperation bring about victory.
If but one man can move a mountain, imagine what thousands of men and women can do united. Imagine HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS! Those who shout in our American towns and streets "Viva La Aztlan, Gringo's go home", know that strength comes from numbers, they hold a very sacred belief that strengthens them, they view each other as brother and sisters… as family. We the American citizens are brothers and sisters as well regardless our skin color, our Father the United States of America, our Mother its Constitution. It is time for the American People to stand as one family, to stand for America, to stand for each other AND TO MARCH ON OUR NATION'S CAPITOL!
It is time now to no longer stand just under our own organizations banners, but to willingly stand side by side under the banners of other organizations as well. It is time now to unite and stand as a solid force against these invaders of the United States of America. Please set aside your differences and cast away your concerns and fears, there is little time left, please don't wait till we run out of time. AMERICA NEEDS YOU NOW!
Please follow this link and come discuss the "MARCH FOR AMERICA" with us. If we all pull together, we could make this happen on FLAG DAY, June 14th, 15th & 16th, 2007 in our nation's Capitol! It wouldn't be the same without YOU!
