Well, lots of reasons. To feel appealing to another, money, sex, fun. If a man is boring but you love him, you'll fool around for the excitement, but stay with your man for the stability.
What Olga said. A better question might be, what keeps women from cheating (since I think there are a majority that do not)? I know my #1 answer there would be "dying from some incurable disease", followed by I happen to have some morals and integrity.
Does husband drink? Gamble? Does nothing in the home except gripe? Is he controlling, which not all people consider abusive. Does he still give the wife the same attention he did when wooing her to catch her, or has the flame gone out? There are many reasons for cheating. Men do it as well as women.
