i called out
for i knew not
what perturbed me more
the dim reminder
of innocence lost
and laughter
forgotten
the quiet insistence
of a friendship
sworn
and torn
by pride
pulled
tried
not true
and you walked
in the shadow
of a face
i knew
as my pillar
holding the hand
of a foe
i gave you
riddance
to seal your soul
a cart to toil from
this broken belief
we were to be
mirrors in a time
when invincible
beings craved our
attention
the secrets told
in offered solace
seared and sliced
to fit only
a minute
of our lives
and you kept walking
i had no need to follow
for the hand you held
kept you from
sensing
what was missing
as it always has
and always will
who am i
to tell you this
so i simply
wish
you
well
in the arms of a foe
i do not yet know
nor do i miss
the drama
and the kiss
of death
which once
clouded my heart
and gave you
the right to
call me friend.

If I could give it as many stars as my repeated readings, night would also be as bright as day.
Great work.
