I Have a Personal Problem

Here's the thing. I intend to go out and about again today. I have a mission this time, though, rather than just gadding about. I need to purchase a new (and bigger) suitcase. See, I packed the smallest of them to bring to Melbourne with me on purpose. My small one is ancient and all scuffed up. The wheels on it are about wore out. I knew I would be shopping a lot down here, and would then need to buy a bigger one. The plan worked. The husband has approved the purchase.

I'm thinking maybe a bright, shocking pink... or perhaps purple.

At any rate, that is not the current dilema. Oh no. My uncertainty today lies in the department of footware decisions. Once in awhile I like to dress up just for shits-n-grins. My foot covering of choice on those days are these  way-cool boots. However, I have lupus (which comes with a nasty dose of RA in my ankles) and these boots have heels... small heels, but heels nonetheless. These boots twisted my ankle last Friday. But, they are ever so cute!

So. Do I put on a cute swirly skirt with the boots today and attempt to look chic in a kinda plump sorta way and risk the ankle breakage whilst shopping without my hunka-hunka to catch me if I stumble?

Or shall I go the safe route of jeans and comfy-cozy Birkenstocks with way-cool crazy socks for good measure?

FYI: The temperature in Melbourne today is slated to be 19c and sunny.

Comfort, Lori. Always go for comfort. I say the comfy-cozy Birkenstocks with way-cool crazy socks, for sure. (I think you will also get some smiles in those)

Ok. The Birks it is. I really wanted a nice pare of toe-socks to wear wth them, but could only find them in children's sizes yesterday. It's a conspiracy!

Are you really comfortable with those socks. What sort of outfit are you wearing? - I suggest you go with the jeans. Unless your skirt really works with those socks.

I am, in fact, committed to the socks... which would, now that I think of it, be hidden by the boots.

The skirt with the socks and Birks is a new twist to this. Oh now I am really confused!

Thank you Lisa. I suffered much groaning upon the purchase of those boots. They are the cutest boots ever made on the planet though so I simply had to have them no matter the male fall-out. (male fall-out... what a great name for a rock band!)

I shall go shower and ponder this further.

I can't believe this! I was going to post a very similar post and it was going to be about choosing boots and a coat. I did buy 2 pairs of shoes from Overstock and I got a fantastic deal.

Wear the Birks, wear the jeans. Easier to shop for new shoes while avoiding discomfort. The socks are a given.

Find a shop that sells Crocs.....they're comfortable, bright, waterproof, and let you show-off cartoon colored socks. You won't regret it.

In the end I went with the jeans, socks, Birks. It proved to be the wise choice as I headed in a completely different direction than I had intended. This is an issue with me, it seems. The result was I walked all over the wonderland that is Victoria Market.

I bought a bright purple suitcase, lots of cheap-assed but fun jewelry, and I found two of the best-ever pairs of toe socks. Finally!

I am most decidedly in Shoppers Heaven. Melbourne rawks hard.

The turquoise boots are at home in Sweden. I should have brought them with me. Since I was bringing the smallest suitcase though, I went all mix-n-match. Everything I brought is like black and/or brown so it all interchanges.. or was.. til I discovered all the great shopping spots down here. HA!

Birks-- cool-- Socks -cool and remember that the best thing about the Birks is that if it rains, you get no wetter than your skin which is basically rain-proof and you can strip the socks and splash about in mud-puddles without any encumbrance and lots of fun besides. just a little singing in the rain is good for the spirit.

BUT...if I had been you, Lori....I would have cut the toes out of those cool socks, and slipped them over the boots - like spats - sawed off the heels, worn the skirt, and carried the purple bag everywhere! Oh, I don't insist on boots, though I love them. Heels are good too. And shoes aren't proper items of art and seduction unless they're at least $200/pair.

I bought Uggs, and they are the most comfortable boots ever. They are expensive, but I have a hard time getting shoes that fit, and these feel like slippers. If you do not know what they are, go to zappos.com, or google uggs.

I'll look at the Uggs. I can't imagine anything being more comfortable than Dingos, but will take Nancy's word for it.

The Birkenstock and socks combo is fabulous. I also think 19 in celsius is on the cold side, although I don't know exactly how it compares to fareheit.

Wow, what a dilemma. I love the boots, but I want you to be comfy so that you enjoy your shopping. I'm with the people who say wear the Birks and then buy some comfy new "hot" shoes.

I saw some glorious UGGs at the Victoria Market yesterday, but Lars was with me and vetoed the purchase of yet another pair of boots. He had a point though, I have several very nice and comfy pair of winter boots at home already... the UGGs do indeed look comfortable to the extreme.

I have very weak ankles and never wear heels because I kinda like being able to walk, but the other day I was shopping and found the cutest pair of boots and they have a heel. I of course bought them, but have yet to have the courage to wear them. Also I don't think I have anything to wear them with. Maybe I just need to go shopping again and get me one of those swishy skirts. It is time to start thinking about my pick hubby up from the airport on December 20th outfit. I think the boots will be best worn at that time because there is minimal walking because it is just a small airport.

Good plan, Julie! I usually reserve my heeled boots for occasion such as that, or dinners out when the farthest I have to walk is from the car to the table. heh.

Just once in awhile in nice weather I like to break them out and give it a try for longer outings. I always seem to regret that... heh.
