Truism: what goes around comes around;
Parable: we reap what we sow;
Threat: what goes up must come down;
Hexagram: the Tao of the work is in the Tao of the working.
Hey wait a minute--how'd that get in there?
All I know is, flu season is upon us so be sure to have your flu vaccination especially if you're in a high-risk group.
And be sure to:
wash your hands often but not compulsively, wear your hat and mittens--outside, not inside, unless your furnace should conk out, and steam your schnoze whenever possible.
Use zinc lozenges; drink liquids, freshen your longjohns; exercise several times a week, always wear goloshes when puddle-stomping, and stop wasting time reading this fluff when you should be fluffing pillows for a long winter's nap.
Those sugarplums can't dance by themselves, you know.
Because deep inside, without my having to tell you, you know that whatever goes around is coming for you, you're reaping now what you've sown, and what goes up will be your temperature which will come down eventually and leave you on the road to recovery and soon slogging back to your Tao's work...bushy-tailed if not bright-eyed.
For after all, the early bird can catch the worm while saving nine stitches in a timely fashion, and all will be right with the world as long as you keep your feathers dry this flu season.
I hope you do!

Shh-h-h-h...sugarplums at work...

'Tis the season, indeed. (achoo!)
I think EVERYONE should have a parable, truism, threat and hexagram!
Echinacea is a wonderful herb, but it's not for everyone. People who suffer from autoimmune diseases like arthritis and fibromyalgia should not use it. This is because echinacea boosts the immune system and in doing so boosts the destructive effects of those diseases. Sounds crazy, I know.
Penina, it's great that echinacea works for you--I have friends who swear by it--but I'm one of those, as Linda says, who can't take it. Grumps me up, but there it is.
The schnoze-steaming is my best defense, and I loooove Tea Tree/Melaleuca Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, and Rosemary--Oil, and fresh (I have 2 bushes.) Oh yeah!
Thomas, I certainly hope so!
I realize echinacea (and any self-administered therapy) is something to be accompanied with a large dose of info. I was just so overcome with relief when I wrote that :-) I had not had any for the first two days and had been improvising. Then my sister picked up some Nature's Way for me, and the symptoms began to recede dramatically.
My favorite source of herbal info is Lalitha Thomas' "Ten Essential Herbs" -- my herb bible. Actually she added ech. in the appendix of a follow-up edition of the book. Still filled with enlightening research along with her great anecdotes.
PS: I've been big on aromatherapy since my son was born. And although I have to get a new diffuser (left the old one in GA), I did put drops of eucalyptus oil on my pajama collar when conjestion made it difficult to sleep.
Penina, aromatherapy rules! So glad you're up and about in your new digs, although I'm still a bit miffed that you're not right down the road! Sounds like you're both settling in nicely though.
Barry, good, if uncomfortable, advice!
Thanks, jessie--your opinion means a lot--always! Penina is feeling much better last I heard! It's echenacea for her...
