Playful chasing tease
Sweet winds stirring up the leaves
Games with clever trees
Elusive prey earthward bound
Vanquished foes end in crunches
( I recycled parts of a poem I wrote about the Haiku Master Basho's love in his old age for his bannana tree to make this poem. It seemed to fit our newest puppy (pixel) playing in the yard better Even though I thought the other poem was more beautiful, this one is more playful)

Yea Jill, It was getting a little dark around here wasn't it? And as for the trees - I'm sort of fascinated by the idea of conscious trees, what they would think of us and how they would engage us. Thanks
Mark, maybe concious wasn't the right word. How about "aware" (does that still sound a little paisley?)
Jim, play is serious business,...as is the joy of life. Attitudes I see often in your poetry. Thanks
amanda, you always see the mystery, thank you.
