The recent elections, though disappointing, were not a real surprise to most of us whether liberal or conservative.
The threat to this nation will be now be highlighted. Now that Nancy Pelosi thinks she is President, her Secular-Progressive Agenda will come to the forefront. The SP agenda is a social agenda based on a massive entitlement program. This program, already underway with the corrupt social security program and the massive welfare entitlement program, will be excessively increased under the Pelosi Regime.
The S-P agenda will now be supercharged. The next chapter on their agenda? Education and Healthcare.
The Dept of Education, a federal agency, has a largely useless role considering the fact that education is a local responsibility and not a federal issue. Proponents would argue that the United States has fallen behind in the educational standards of the world. The US is behind in Math and Science. And yes, we are.
The answer is not federalization of education. The answer actually is the de-federalization. The public school system is a wreck. It is in shambles. The federal, state and local government entities have been throwing money at the problem. And the fact is, the schools are getting worse. Grades are dropping and to be honest, our kids are getting dumber.
What on earth can we do to turn this trend around? Can it be done? Yes, it can.
Homeschooling has proven to be a powerful tool in education. The DOE would have you believing that homeschooling is evil, unreliable and largely unregulated. Some states make qualifications for homeschooling actually HARDER to obtain than becoming a public school teacher. Private schools have the same tough standards as well.
The fact also remains that both of these institutions are doing extra-ordinarily well. Homeschoolers are winning spelling bees, math and science competitions and chess competitions.
What is the public school systems response? They campaign for making homeschooling illegal or regulating it to the same standards of public school. They fight against voucher programs for sending kids in questionable school districts to private schools. They want, unquestionably, to maintain a totalitarian hold on the educational system.
Chairwoman Pelosi will, no doubt, work to further the cause of the public school system and will usher any law that will strengthen the system and weakens its competition. Of course, squelching competition is key to the communist doctrine.
I will address the healthcare situation in another article.

maybe pelosi will cause the democrats to lose in 2008, just like bush caused this election disaster.
i might be doomed to dislike both pelosi and bush.
who will learn the lessons of the 2006 election first, the democrats or the republicans? flip a coin. and if the coin lands on it's side, like it seems like it's doing, that means nobody learns the lessons.
