Small carton of heavy cream at room temp.
Large clean glass jar
Strainer
Small cup
Spoon
1. Pour cream into the clean jar
2. cover jar with lid and turn lightly
3. Hold the jar and shake it for about 15 minutes or until you see bits of butter in the cream. Share the shaking with friends or family members, since 15 minutes is a long time and your arms will get tired.
4. Put the jar in refrigerator for one hour
5. Empty the jar through the strainer. The liquid left is buttermilk
6. Pour some very cold, clean water over the butter bits
7. Carefully spoon the butter into a small cup.
8. Spread it on bread or crackers and enjoy!
**This doesn't make as much as you buy in the store, but it is a fun treat and will give you something different to do when you are bored
