Legacy
My granddaughter ran giggling,
Her mother catching up by bit
As I watched from the park bench,
Winded
Grandma strode behind them
But soon they were all together
Heading for the baby's quest,
Together
I sighed but didn't move
And felt my lower lip quiver
As they disappeared,
Laughing
Then I breathed in deeply
The earthy ghost town air
Of miners and their families, sweet,
There
And my strength returned wordless
Greater than before, in confidence
The future is assured by care,
Love
