Doctor Who is new English icon

Doctor Who is as English as Wimbledon, a cup of tea and London double-decker buses, according to a project to find the top icons of our country.

The time-travelling adventurer is part of a group of 21 things that the public voted into a list of icons on Friday.

It's the fourth group of icons that define being English to be announced since the project launched in January.

Organisers say more than 800,000 people have visited the website where you can vote for which is your fave icon.

Oh, I agree. You can't get more English than Doctor Who... even if a Scots is in the leading role. :)

LOL! Good point Cindy! But Doctor Who has been for more than 40 years, it has to be iconic to have that sort of staying power.
