Rough Day

I went to my husbands grandmas funeral today. His grandpa is not dealing with it very well, so he wa really mean. I think that everyone was in a bad mood today. Also when we met at my in-laws house to drive to the burial site, we got some bad news. My husband's other grandmother, who is in a local nursing home/rehab center had something happen to her early Saturday morning. She was lying in her bed and a man who she didn't know came into her room and wispered in her her asking if he could get in the bed with her. He then tried to take off her underware. She was screaming, but nobody came to check on her. When my sister-in-law got there, she found two tears (one on each arm). Then tonight when we got home, my mother in law called the nursing home to give them permission to let the bed rails down and was told she was not there. They had sent her to the local hospital for a mental evaluation (to the physc ward). The doctor there said she was sharp as a tack. The reason they sent her to the hospital was , so they could say she was making up the story about the guy coming into her room. So, needless to say the day was very long. I hope that things get better.

I am CRYING at the way that poor woman was treatest. A Mental Ward for her and not for the b@st@rd who came into her room? @#%@#^#$%^!!!

life sure seems cruel at times... and overwhelming. Take care and keep up the good job of dealing with L I F E. My heart goes out to Grandpa at the loss of his wife and at the poor woman in the nursing home. What a shame

you might need to investigate that nursing home a little further, because things like that happen and the nursing home had a responsbility to take care of her, that is what they get paid for, they are trying to make her look crazy, here in North Carolina that used to happen a lot until there was lawsuits presented against the rest homes, now it does'nt happen as much, we have lawyers here that look into abuse at nursing homes, sorry about your husband's grandpa..look after him, he will be very lonely now, since his mate died..not an easy thing to get over...take care and have a better day

I have heard about all the nursing home abuse here in North Carolina. My mother-in-law is going to contact a lawyer on Monday, but I just can't help but feel bad about everything that has happened. I know that it had to have been scary for her, when that man entered her room.

How terrible. I'm so sorry for your familys loss and expect him to be in a bad mood, he's hurting and it does take time.
As for the nursing home mess, I'd have it investigated too, and hopefully move her to a safer one. They're not all bad...
