Help Get Triaminic Vapor Patch for Cough back in the stores

this is an example of the reactionary legislation enacted in America. Its a result of MONEY. People sue, companies withdraw their products fearing massive lawsuits and government intervention. In the end, good people are harmed.

we used to use these all the time for my son....I saw some of these this past summer somewhere in town. If I can find them again I'll send them to you. I'll also talk to my pharmacist...she might have an "in" too ....she is a miracle worker when it comes to finding hard to locate items!

I just went to the store the other day to try to find these and stood in the aisle looking for them for probably 10 minutes! I had no idea they were no longer available. They worked well for my daughter if we could convince her to let us put one on her. She's had a cough for almost a week now and is not sleeping much because of it. I'll call.

Yeah, I thought that it was just my store out of them. I didn't ask about it. I just grabbed something else. I'll call too.

I had no idea, there was a recall.. This can be a start of a pitition to everyone who likes the product..Jeeze I just heard about a magnet toys that kids are eating and dying from they are still on the shelves :( Go Figure, both good products...almost same situation.

Another thing we do if your child is older and wont eat the tissue is put some vicks vapo rub on a plate or tissue next to the bed, and that works wonders and you dont have to wear a messy cream :) Thats what we do my hubby wont wear it and thats when I started doing this I like it and it clears my nose too :)

I can't beleive they took this product away. I just figures whenever we find something that works really well, someone has to go and screw it up for the rest of us. I have been searching high and low for any leftovers on store shelves. Check small local stores. I found one box in a whole in the wall gas station/convenience store.

I drove to walgreen's late last night to pick up a box of Triaminic cough patches..I had the pharmacist look also & had the manager call other stores. to find out today a child swallowed a patch!!! My son has to be taken down & forced to take the syrup or pills or.... the patch has worked wonders..especially during the middle of the night. How about the kids that take overdoses of tylenol..do we take that off the shelf???? I will do whatever it takes to get the patches..maybe Mexico

Elizabeth let me know if you find any and please do call and give your positive feedback. I checked ebay a few different days and nothing there. I think those nasal strips are more dangerous as they are small and do not stay on.

My son still has a very bad cough and cannot take anything else.

I too have been looking for these. A few months ago I was searching everywhere for them at Wal-Mart and finally asked someone. They told me they had been recalled. These were a lifesaver for my now 7 year old son who has Asperger's. I can not get him to take cough syrup and forget those nasty patches to place on the tongue. These were perfect especially at night when they seem to cough the most. I used them on my 3 year old as well. I try the vapor plug in but it only helps if he's congested. I too want to see these back as cold season is right around the corner.

I agreee with all of you, that this was such a wonderful product. It always worked on my child. with winter around the corner, i dont know what to do now? ANY one know where i can get some of these? It is ridiculous, what these lawyers can do..and i blame the parent on how did their child get access to this product, and swallowed it. The product is amazing, those parents were faulty. I wish this one is back in the stores

I didn't know they didn't make this product anymore either Bonnie! My son had a cough a few weeks ago and specifically asked for it. Though the smell was intense, and hit you as soon as you entered the room - it really did work.

So why did they take it off the market? Was it really because some kid tried to eat it? If so, I agree with Kumar, where was the parent? That is so ridiculous!

My youngest daughter has a hyper-sensitivity to pseudoephadrine which is (or used to be) the active ingredient in cold medicine. I gave her Dimetapp once for a cold and she stayed up for 36 hours strait. I am just finding out about the recall because I buy the patches three boxes at a time. I didn't need them much over the summer, but I am in desperate need now. There is absolutely nothing else out there. I am sorry that someone's child had a seizure, but they were not used as intended. Now it is a money game. All of the lawyers are looking for a payout and the manufacturer is covering there behind. I have already called, but it doesn't look like they will put it back out there. I would even be willing to sign a form to get them from behind the pharmacy counter like you have to do with some medications now. I hope they bring them back, it is a shame so many should suffer

This just sux. I have used these vapor patches for years! I use them for my oldest daughter who is now 8, my middle daughter who is 7 and has severe asthma, and my son who is 2. I have always used them and NEVER have ANY of my kids pulled them off and EATEN them! I used them on my asthmatic daughter from the time she was 11 months old and still even at that age she never pulled them off and ate them! Good grief where were this kids parents when this was happening? Obviously NOT watching their child! These patches worked wonderful for my little girls asthma. I am having to use the actual vapor rub now and it is SO messy and will not stay "fresh" smelling all day like the patch did!
I searched 2 Eckerd's pharmacies, 1 Walgreen's pharmacy, Walmart, Target, and K-mart. No one had them and no one new why, I got the number off of a different type of Triaminic box and called. I could have cried when the lady told me what had happened. She said that they were taking down my comments though.....I bought some Mentholatum and on the side of the box they were telling about their "vapor patch" sorry, they have pulled it from the shelves due to the same reason Triaminic pulled theirs. I am wondering which parents made their kid eat one so they could jump on the "lets sue someone" band wagon. I'm waiting on a kid to eat one of the "kool" patches they now sell for headaches....

Thanks Heather for sharing your research. I checked out both sites and found that the Tiger Balm is sold at Vitamin Shoppe, but if you have a gift cert for Amazon it is best to order from them. I will be ordering the naturopath since that is more geared for the cough issue and there is no pain usually associated with it.

We are now on our second tin of the Naturopatch. I bought first one at beautyexclusive.com and got two free patches for other issues and then I saw they could be purchased at the naturopatch.com site and it was cheaper in the long run. BE = 21.14, Naturo = 18.50

I spent the last two days searching for these patches for my 9 yr old son and finally got the bad news that they were recalled! We've been using these patches for many years for help with his asthma attacks. Like many of the other posts above, I was shocked and upset that the product was pulled. Great...we find something that helps and thanks to some idiot who let their 2 year old eat one I can't get them anymore. I started a serious internet search to find the patches somewhere and was so grateful that a friend sent me the link to your blog - if nothing else for the comfort that I'm not alone in my plight. I have called Novartis and have sent some emails so only time will tell if anything is done, but we all know the wheels of positive change grind veeeeeerrryy slowly in cases like this. We've become such a shamelessly litigious society it makes me sick. I will also try the naturopatch and appreciate the tip on that! Cheers to you all!

I am living in Paris, France. I use to buy several packs of Vapor patch at each of my visit to USA for my kids. I even used them for me. This product is fantastic and I have not find any other elsewere. I just understand that it has been taken out of the market, that's why I coudn't find it anymore. I am very very sad and find it stupid. I guess parents and children should talk about it, or it should be written that it is not made for chewing, anyhow we all pay a severe price for a stupid accident. Best luck to you all.

i was too standing at the aisle looking for this product. my son always been very difficult to take medicines and with the patch at least i was having time to rest at night because kept him without awaken all night. i called the 800 and a hindu guy- Peter- said that no longer it was available and when i told him that i would like to be aprt of the group that called to be part of the petition to put back this product in the market, he said that the call will not going to make a different but thank very much for calling.
i will love to see this product back in the market.

I too have wonder what happened to the cough patch, my son is now 13 but when he is sick he doesn't like any liquid medicine and the tablets take for ever to work. the patch work great, it seems you find something that works good and a good price they take it off the maket, I had no idea it was recalled i looked it up on the internet today to see where I could find it and found out why. JUST BUT FOR OLDER CHILDREN ON THE INSTRUCTION OR PUT IT SOMEWHERE THEY CAN'T GET IT OFF......

I wish they would make the vapor patch back. I have a problem with the fact that they stopped makeing it. Mcd's didn't stop making coffee when that lady sued them and got money . They just put a warning IT'S HOT LABEL on for the stu[pid people who would not know that coffee is hot. thats what tghey should do with the vapor patch put a warning label that says SMELLS GOOD NOT FOOD DO NOT USE ON KIDS THAT PUT THINGS IN MOUTH. DUH. MY kids used it when they were young and now are asking for it since they are older and want relief. PLEASE BRING IT BACK:)

Thanks for the update Courtney. WE only have a few vapor patches left and I wanted to stock up for fall and now can look for these at Walgreens and Rite Aid and might as well check out Target too. I think these would be cheaper.

Well I just checked out the label and it says not to apply directly to skin so I think we will stick with naturopatch as they can stay on for 24 hours and can use more than one at a time. http://www.naturopatch.com

The theraflu patches work good and available at Rite Aid. But you cannot put directly onto skin, has to be worn on shirt, so best for sleep time and not when at school. Thanks again for the info.

I was at Target this weekend and I found something that I think is the same thing that was in the triaminic cough patches or has the same ingredients. Its called MENTHOLATUM cherry chest rub fir kids says its a cough suppressant. the ingredients are Camphor, Eucalypyus and menthol. You rub it on the chest. ti was located beside the little noses nasal spray in a little red jar like vicks comes in. I think it will work the same as the triaminic patches.

oh plus it has the cherry scent so it does not smell like vicks does. My daughter hates to put on any vicks wanted to put the cherry cough rub on and now she is wearing it again tonight.
