Here in Australia it is now almost 8am on Thursday. I was quite comfy in my wonderful bed when I overheard the newscasters positively glowing whilst they announced the resignation of Rumsfeld. What? Could it be...? I jumped out of bed to see it for myself.
YES!
I'm sure the resignation has two causes. One being pressure from Bush to try to appease the populace. A sacrifice, if you will, to try to fend off criminal charges against him. The second being Rumsfeld's own fears of charges against him.
Whatever. I'm just glad he's gone. Now to get rid of the rest of them.
I am not a Democrat. I have been a registered Republican for 30 years. Those who have been in power do NOT represent me, in any way shape or form. They are not Republicans, and I cannot believe how many people backed them while they ran on that ticket. Bush et al are so far removed from Republican ideals I could spit. NEOcon is an apt name for their party.
So the Democrats have congress now, and are one seat away from the Senate... at least according to Aussie news. I voted mostly your ticket, and some not of the Two-Party system at all... I am pleased with the outcome thus far, but I also have reservations.
Now that you have the power, will you stand up and be counted? Will you take steps to begin to try to undo all the harm to the Constitution that Bush has buried? Reinstate Habeus Corpus? Get rid of Homeland Security (which really only targets Bush's detractors, not terrorists?) Will you make it safe for me to come over in February without fear of the continued harassment at the airport...? Will you take steps towards calling Bush to task for his crimes and make someone accountable for all the missing money in Iraq?
Time will tell. I will be watching.
In the meantime, I cannot help but do a Happy Dance. Now to watch the rest of the supports of Bush around the world go down in their various elections...

but bush lost his rubber stamp
of US soldiers WILL NOT BE Forgotten.
I want some in prison for the unnecessary
deaths of US Soldiers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I asked my buddies at the VFW if Bush could
sign his own execution order.
Bush is seeking the death penalty for
at least 13 US Soldiers convicted for
war crimes.
Dare we hope for a double-suicide?
I will do a happy dance today with you....
I guess it represents some kind of positive move on the part of this administration, but I doubt if it's going to "change the course" much. They probably just needed a scapegoat for losing the elections so badly. He'll probably still be advising GW in the future, except now he can spend 100% of his time doing it without all the other dsitracting work. Sigh....
Of course, they are gearing up for their own elections here, and Howard is fighting hard not to go down...
And it seems the Australian populace is not real pleased with him at the moment either. What just happened in the US may spell his political demise as well.
Time to stand up and be counted as a true individual, Australia! Just think - not only are you a country, you're also a friggin' continent! Now, what other civilized country can make that claim?
So you can't see me, no not at all
In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention
Well-secluded, I see all
With a bit of a mind flip
You're there in the time slip
And nothing can ever be the same
I'm ALL for Pres Nancy!! Huzzah! But I think she needs to rethink her ideas and IMPEACH BUSH!!
Ok, stepping down from podium now...heh heh
Jay, Jay, Jay...
Lots of folks understand about war. Lots of folks also understand, though, that this is not a legitimate war...
