Talk about everything - and anything - but politics on election day? Why not? Sure, some of us are delighted in the day, glad to see our work primed to display results, looking forward to the event, and waiting to put up a test pattern after the returns. Others? They understandably wave a white flag and call out, Tell me when the election is over!
Me? Yeah, I'm busy with all that and more. This morning as I proclaimed breakfast was coffee and two leftover "fun size" candy bars, I remembered there is more to this sweet life.
So what is it? What are you doing today that has absolutely nothing to do with voting, campaigns, or the polls?

I have to organize our new "Pro-Pay" web site area ("Performance Pay" for public school teachers)...exciting stuff...
And then later today I'll be stripping (wallpaper off my kitchen walls) and watching the election results (oh yeah, no politics)...er, I mean I'll be watching cartoons and listening to The Current to see if Lady Sovereign matches up with an old Donald Duck cartoon like "Dark Side of the Moon" matches up with "Wizard of Oz"...
Breakfast for dinner tonight, Charles B., sweet! That's one of my favorites. Any thoughts on your new glasses? Going Buddy Holly or Bono?
W00t!!
(wallpaper off my kitchen walls)

This story made me cry, the first time I read it (I was about 10). After moping around the house, close to tears at the loss, I sought out my dad, who had lent me his copy of "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes."
"Dad! Sherlock Holmes is DEAD! I can't believe it! He and Moriarty killed each other! I can't stand it." He laughed and said "Don't cry... there's another book - lots more adventures to read." I was REALLY relieved when he found the second book for me.
I sometimes dreamed that I was the only woman Holmes would want to marry. I liked to picture myself with him at 221B Baker Street (without all the smoke - of course, I'd put a stop to that. Ha.)
I was an odd child.
I already voted, so now I get to work, pay the bills, grocery shop and call the school about their new fangled computerized lunch program that allows my daughter to buy junk and pay for her friend's junk too (why, oh why, do they have to make it this hard?). Life goes on : )
Warm weather, dry brittle leaves.....time for an afternoon spent walking and talking with my daughter.
Way to go Kat. Big political campaigns have nothin on the battles over school lunches. Good luck with that!
Swing out Ronnie M.! That's great, great music. It is a sound that makes for good company. Any faves?
Greg there you go with your poetic nature. *grin* Enjoy the time with your daughter.
No wake, though. Auntie, who passed away?
Might have to agree with you Ronnie M. Truly his signature and an incredibly romantic song.
Peace and strength to you and your family, auntie.
I agree that Moonlight Serenade is the most romantic dance tune. When I was a kid, I always thought I'd dance with my true love to that song.
Oooh, one of my faves is the live Carnegie Hall recording of "Sing, Sing, Sing" (B. Goodman et al).
I even have it on my iTunes/iPod...right next to Beck, The Dandy Wahols, Bealtes, Tenacious D, Foo Fighters, Weezer, Devo....
