I'm sure this old news to some folks, but I being my idiot self just found this. Apparently, they have been scouting and rating various locations for over a year now to be named the new Seven Wonders of the World. They have done the footwork, and put all the info up on the website. It is up to the public to vote on the final picks.
The multimedia campaign to choose the New 7 Wonders of the World is in its final stage.
This is the biggest global vote ever to have taken place. Millions of people have already voted for their favorite "wonder." Numerous milestones have already been reached on a journey across the Internet, television and the world's media. This journey will reach its pinnacle on July 7, 2007 - 07.07.07, when the world will discover which monuments have been named as the New 7 Wonders of the World.
I voted for:
1. Neuschwanstein Castle
2. The Roman Colosseum
3. Timbuktu, Mali
4. Easter Island Statues
5. Stonehenge
6. The Pyramids of Giza
7. The Acropolis of Athens
The Eiffel Tower is also on this list if that interests anyone... heh. The list has at this point been narrowed to 22. Go make your top picks. Hey, it's fun, aiiight?

The Eiffel Tower...does that surprise you..:)

Stonehedge..even if it's overrun with tourists
Chichen Itza...I was there and just couldn't believe the scope of it or it's bloody history
Easter Island..never there but it's always been on my list
Colosseum...another place I was fortunate enough to visit..it really is a wonder
Neuschwanstein..I never had the pleasure to see this in person but my daughter did and she just raved about it's beauty and the way it just seems to hang there on the side of that mountain
This was great, thanks..I enjoyed voting, especially for you know what..lol
The Colosseum
Easter Island Statues
Stonehenge
The Pyramids of Giza
Machu Picchu
St. Basil's Cathedral
(I must mention, though, that I do not feel at all competent to make this judgement because I have never visited any of these incredible monuments, and am pretty ignorant of the significance of the middle eastern ones)
That being said. I don't know what to vote for. Lots of interesting places. I'd say Stonehenge for sure, but that's the extent of my wonder knowledge at this time.
