A post by my character, Aradia, on my friends forum: Vethedar
If one forgot about vicious dragon attacks, crafty thieves, and a shortage of supplies due to Fograd's explosion... Life within Vaeles wasn't too bad. In Aradia's case, life was perfect. She was young, in love, and quickly mastering the skills of magic that course through out her blood line. Magic that had been lost for years, due to her family chosing to ignore them in hopes of fitting in with those around them. The humans of Vaeles, who seemed to grow weary of magical bearing humans over the years. But none of that was of any concern to Aradia. The thoughts of others did nothing to upset her, she was lost within a haze of love. It was a barrier, thrusting all negative thoughts, and energies away. Many of the neighbors found it strange, that she would be outside working, singing, and dancing around.
Which was exactly what Aradia had been doing, since sunrise she was outside working within her garden. Kneeling upon the tilled earth, her hands work over the various plants. Picking the finished vegtables. Re-staking plants that were knocked over from the elements, and just enjoying her life. With a basket of beautiful vegtables laying beside her, she raises up onto her knees to pick some of the more lush tomatos from the top of the plants. They had done quite well this season, the plants growing to well over five feet in height. Smiling, she wipes each tomato clean before putting it into her whicker basket, and going for another one. Once she's gotten all that she can hold, she hums happily to herself, and hefts the basket up.
Spotting one of their neighbors outside, she hikes over to the wooden fence that seperates their yards, and waves towards the elderly woman. It takes a few moments, but eventually the woman makes it to the fence, and returns Aradia's bright smile.
" Good Morning, Gretta! I just have too many vegtables this year, I haven't any idea what to do with them all. If this keeps up, so many of them are going to spoil. So I come bearing a gift for you. Please take this basket of vegtables for you and your family. "
Gretta: Oh that's so kind of you dear, to be young and in love again... perhaps then my own garden would have done better this year. You're such a sweet girl.
" I do hope you'll enjoy them, and you know that if you ever need any help at all, you just call out for me, promise? "
Gretta; Of course deary, of course.
" Wonderful, excuse me now please. I must get into the house and clean it up, Zephrodias is coming home today and I want to make sure everything's all set up. "
Gretta: Goodness, it's about time he comes home. Leaving you here alone so often... Well, it's none of my affair. You go on girly, and get your work done. Welcome him home for me when he gets in.
With that, Aradia hands the basket of vegtables over the fence to Gretta, and they both wave before disappearing within their rightful homes. Kicking off her outside shoes, she slips her feet into her house shoes, before going about the house from room to room, cleaning each one until it's spotless. When there's absolutely nothing left to do but make dinner, she heads into the kitchen and starts preparing the meal. This would all be perfect, she wanted her darling to come home to a clean house, a friendly smile, a cold drink, and a warm meal. Hours pass, and she prepares a supper of beef stew, using the various vegtables from her garden. While she lets it simmer over the fire, she sneaks upstairs to clean herself up and change into some fresh clothes. Stripping out of the dusty ones, she tosses them into her basket of laundry that needs to be washed. And uses the water basin to wash the various dirt from her face, neck, arms, and hands. Getting all cleaned up, she changes into Zephrodias' favorite midnight blue colored dress, with the long sleeves, and slightly low cut, square, neck line. Tieing her hair back into a braid, she smiles at her reflection, and runs back downstairs barefooted to the kitchen to wait for her darling one to get home.
