Rev' those predictions! Gary Eichten had quite the guest list on MPR's Midday 11/02/06. The topic: Who will control the Minnesota Legislature next year?

The guests? Of course:

Dean Johnson: Minnesota Senate majority leader, DFL-Willmar.
Dick Day: Minnesota Senate minority leader, R-Owatonna.
Steve Sviggum: Minnesota speaker of the House, R-Kenyon.
Margaret Anderson Kelliher: Minnesota House minority leader, DFL-Minneapolis.

There's 201 seats (that's all of 'em) up for re-election. What will happen to the balance of power on Nov. 7? Share your predictions!

All I can say is that I hope Dean Johnson will not be in control of the Senate. The DFL has stood in the doorway opposing basic civil and human rights in the arena of gender equality for over a decade.

It is time for a change.

I would think that the DFL will retain control of the Senate.

The Dems will keep the Senate. The Dean "The Sandman" Johnson will not be majority leader. They will vote in someone who is more credible. If they keep Johnson in, nothing will get passed and it will be ugly.

I tend to believe that the next few sessions will go down easier. Without the pressure of the state budget deficit and without the "no new-taxes" pledge there will be more wiggle-room for comprimise.
