Make Your Own All-Purpose cleaner

Did you know that over half of what you pay for in those household cleaners is water? Why not just add your own water to ingredients for much less?

Difficulty: Easy

Time Required: 5

1. Fill a spray bottle about two thirds full of warm water.

2. Add 1/4 cup of ammonia.

3. Add 1 teaspoon of dish detergent.

4. Using a long handled spoon or butterknife, stir the mixture gently.

5. Spray and wipe!

I like to fill a spray bottle with water, about 2/3 full, then add about two Tsp. of Dawn and clean my bathroom fixtures with it. It's easy on the finishes and my faucets look as new as they did four years ago.

Dawn is a brand of dish detergent, Rossie. It can also be used for getting a spot out of clothing--rub it in and let it stay until wash day. The spot's usually gone.

Clicker is right Rossie. It comes in all kinds of formulas, too. Pretty colors, nice scents and some for specific formulas for specific problems in your kitchen sink. It removes grease wonderfully well, too, in all formulas. When there is an oil spill in the world the rescuers of the wildlife use Dawn dish detergent to remove the oil from them and save their lives. The company that makes Dawn usually donates the product to those humane groups.

Palmolive is another brand my mom swears by. She once got red lipstick out of white pants with it. If you use it as bubble bath you almost never need to scrub your tub (but who has time for bubble baths?). I always use Barbara's method to give my small children when they want to help "clean". That way I'm not worried about chemicals getting in their eyes.
