Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater developments and greater riches and so on, so that children have very little time for their parents. Parents have very little time for each other, and in the home begins the disruption of peace of the world.

Recently I watched part of a 'reality television' program. I was disgusted and angered by it....I found it repugnant that in a world so filled with starving children and desperate people, Americans would watch manufactured entertainment for drama.

I see, Jobe, I see. And I agree. I hate that children's lives are totally "scheduled" and that parents think this is good. I hate that when people have free time, they must fill it with something.
If it were not for financial concerns, I'd stay home and be a philosopher.

What you present here is the paradox created by the world we live in and the life we're expected (and want) to lead. How is it that we are supposed to be functional in and successful at both?

In the end it doesn't matter how nice a car you drive, how big a house you have, or how many other material possessions you can amass. What truly matters is the family and friends that surround us and the relationships we cultivate day to day. It's how we treat each other and make a difference in others lives (no matter how small) as well as our own.

Great job and your so right. It breaks my heart that I spend 8 hours a day with my coworks yet only 2-3 with my kids during the week. There never seems to be enough time, energy, or effort. What kinds of legacy am I going to leave?

i think we all struggle with this paradox....and how can we truly know which way to go, which avenue to pursue, whose advice to follow...whether the direction we seem to see is merely an illusion formed from conditioning and doubt......lately I've heard much talk about silence....mental silence as well as ambient silence....i've been directed to listen in this silence for intuition's guiding muse......so into the silence I suppose we must plunge for we can read all the quotes or novels in the world, but only we can set ourselves free.

Incredibly uplifting Jobe. So many people miss what is really important in life by being in such a rush. It is really very sad. People today seem to live to work and survive and acquire more stuff. They are missing the point one needs to work and be in order to LIVE. Living is what is fun great and wonderful in life. take the time to enjoy your friends , loved ones and the things we all take pleasure in. that is the essence of life. jobe you are a very smart man an enlightened post.

Absolutely everything would change for the better if only people had the gumption to just tell their own truths each and every time ... might be some turmoil trough the transition ... but in the end everyone would feel so much better ... and find out how great it could have been before ... ahhh Utopia ... dream on.

i got really sick bc i rushed and had too much to do. i've learned, am still living with these disabilities, and move so very slowly now. life is better.
