So Brett Baldwin was talking about Butterfinger Crisp right? He went on about how absolutely delicious they are, how crispy and sweet, how those candy wizards actually perfected the Butterfinger by removing the density and replacing it with the crispy cookie. I'd reckon he was bewitched. I'd admit we were then spellbound.
This past weekend we foolishly picked up a bag while shopping, and even more foolishly opened it. How does 12 oz of fun size candy which is supposed to end up in pumpkin-shaped buckets and pillowcases just disappear? I brought the last few into work today, as if that would stop me from polishing them off. (Never fear, intrepid trick-or-treaters, there will still be chocolate at my house. However, the Butterfinger Crisps are looong gone.)
My question goes out to all who hand out candy: how do you resist snackin' on it yourself?

For not snacking? I go with either licorice or bubblegum; but I hate to give away such crappy candy.
Brett, why? Why must Butterfinger Crisp junkies drag others into the pit of crunchysweetpeanuttyness? On to your nonsnacking suggestion: you're right, that is crappy candy, but I bet the accompanying adults like it.
jessie, thanks for the tip that the mini's are available in dark chocolate. You can keep Brett company, you two with your candy-tempting ways! ;-)
Hmmm...perhaps I'll have to take a visit to the MPR studios later today to see, umm...the "Founding Members" wall...yeah, that's it...
I'm a purist when it comes to Butterfingers ... only the original for me, thank you.
Um, I also opened the Mounds bag.
Tonight I predict I'll eat myself sick with candy. I only get the good stuff - Snickers, Mounds, Almond Joy, Butterfingers (best candy bar EVER), M&Ms, etc. YUMYUM!!!
The Mrs. bought the candy this year, looks like the usual, fun size Snickers, Kit Kats, Mounds, etc. I usually buy SweeTarts, but that's mostly so I can have snacks for the rest of the week.
Fun size = what should be a normal portion. /IMHO
No SweetTarts this year. I was too lazy.
And now, now the craving for SweetTarts begins. Thanks - it is like a flavorworm or something.
Hmmm... do you live in southwest Mpls? I DO give candy to adults, especially towards the end of the evening when I realize I still have LOADS of candy to give out.
I remember getting GIANT sized SweetTarts at the movie theater...they would barely fit in my mouth...oh sweet heaven!!

Not THIS year, Z...I'll be there to polish off the "extras"...
But my faves are Midnight Milky Ways which unfortunately, do not seem to come in the snack sizes, and Snickers. I wish Butterfingers came in dark chocolate.
I used to love the Marathon bar! Also Pay Days. The salted nuts combined with the sweet caramel.... match made in candy heaven.
Problemo: After an afternoon on the internet with candy (now a worse addiction because I am listening to fantastic MPR) I have only one "fun size" Snickers left. This is bad as it is really cold and raining (too rainy for little kiddies to come out and trick or treat? she says with glee), and do not feel like going out. The choices: make a batch of Rice Krispie marshmallow treats I may have to eat all myself, go to Kroger's for more Fun Size Snickers, or leave for the Halloween party early so I won't have to face the one or two kids that 'might' show up on my old fogie block. Hmmmmm.
Zeldapie you are so sweet, but it looks like Onie called dibs. Ah well!
Uh, that's tragic, St. Joan, and consider your advice heeded by all. As to your dilemma, well, more candy can't hurt, can it?
[Julia adopts a glazed, distant expression] mmmmm Marathon bar. Sweet, sweet Marathon bar.
Almost as good as donuts...
[Julia is currently eating a fun size Snickers] Awshhom, Onie. Heresh, have one.
Peter, that is a strange-but-true phenomenon. I wonder if we need a candy cam to track human response & candy devouring behaviors. /semi-joking, but curious....
