Jackie Beltran once accused me of writing that I had seen illegal immigrants, even though I never wrote such a thing. I called her out on it and asked her to prove that I wrote such a comment, and of course she couldn't prove it. Then she started her usual " crawfishing " and tried to back out of it knowing that she had accused me of something that I didn't do. Did she admit that she was wrong ? Of course not.
So here you go Jackie, I'll write it this time.
I Have Seen Illegal Immigrants And Undocumented Workers
I have seen 4 illegal Guatemalan immigrants, 2 illegal Chinese immigrants, 2 undocumented Chinese workers and 2 undocumented Thai workers.Yep, I saw them and they were as illegal and undocumented as all get out. No doubt in my mind.
One Of The Illegal Immigrants Owes Me Nine Bucks
Just a couple of weeks ago, I was having a smoke out in front of my store when Marcos, and illegal Guatemalan immigrant, walked up to me and asked me if he could borrow ten bucks. I was a bit reluctant at first, however I had to consider the fact that Marcos had worked at a local Chinese restaurant 14 hours per day, 7 days per week for 3 weeks and he was never paid.
In this particular case, I really felt sorry for him. The look of despair on his face really got to me, so I reached for my wallet. When I opened my wallet, I discovered that I only had nine bucks on me at the time. I had more money in the bank to fall back on if I needed it before payday, so the nine bucks wasn't much of an issue to me at the time, and he looked like he needed the nine bucks more than I did.
I reached into my wallet and offered Marcos the nine bucks under the stipulation that he would pay it back in a few days, and of course he agreed to pay me back the next day.
Then I pointed to the Taco Trailer where he worked at the time and I told Marcos " I'll go over there tomorrow and you can pay me back then "
Marcos said " Oh no, you don't have to do that. I'll come back here tomorrow with your money " ( btw way, Marcos never habla inglis before, but now that he wants money, all of a sudden he habla inglis )
Several days passed with no sign of Marcos, so I decided to trot down to the Taco Trailer and check up on Marcos. When I walked up to the trailer, I noticed that Marcos wasn't anywhere to be seen. I asked Rudolpho, the owner, if Marcos was working today. Rudolpho said that Marcos had developed a drinking problem and he had to fire him, and Marcos is now working at the local Thai restaurant as a dishwasher.
This is a prime example of what happens when you feel sorry for an illegal immigrant. I'm not concerned at all about the nine bucks, however it's all about the principal of the issue. Marcos made a promise to me, and he didn't deliver on his promise. I felt sorry for him, and I tried to help him out, and it turns out that he has a drinking problem that I helped him to support.
I suppose that if I become desperate for the nine bucks, I'll have to recruit a couple of Muay Thai boxers from the University, I'm not about to walk into that Thai restaurant alone !

Sounds like you had a weak moment there buddy! Just think what would happen if we felt sorry for ALL of them! I think we'd get the proverbial shaft!
BTW....You got ten bucks I could borrow?
You got Western Union ?
I would bet my ass that you would pay me back tomorrow, and I wouldn't need a bunch of Muay Thai boxers to whip you in to shape !
Ir reported this to ICE, however your advice makes more sense.
I'd bet that would make the Thai owner squirm as well. Yep, that would be well worth nine bucks !
You're right, you'd have no problem there. As for the Guatamalan....I think I would introduce him to a good ol' American ass whippin'!! ;)
A conbination of a bunch of Kentucky Rednecks and Muay Thai boxers should be more than enough to send Senor Marcos back to Guatemala.
Adious Senor Marcos. Passa buien dia ! chok dee !
Well, just take it on a spirtual level and know that some day ol' Marcos will "pass it on" to some other 'down & outer'.
You have started a chain of support, love, and compassion for our fellow 'world travelers.' My hero. (Worth the 9 bucks)?
You got taken in. Doesn't say anything bad about you since you were being nice, but evil people trample all over nice people all the time. I think the INS letter is a good idea for a bit of karmic revenge.
Thanks for the article.
I beleive that a few posters have Jackie cornered on some other threads.
I doubt it !
PUBLIC NOTICE: Timothy had never seen an illegal immigrant until his $9 was stolen. I owe him an apology.
Timothy: I apologize. Please do not hesitate to call me out anytime I make a mistake - I was wrong to accuse you and I did not respond because I try to respond and write as much as possible. I did return to the thread and I can't find any reference of you admittedly seeing illegal immigrants.
At last you admit that you were wrong. Thank you.
I'm not really worried about the $ 9.00, but you said that my $ 9.00 was stolen. I find your comment there to be very interesting indeed. Nuff said!
I 'm very well capable of getting my nine bucks if I need it. Marcos is now knee deep in Thai bullshit!
LOL.
Your $9 WAS STOLEN.....and if you approach Marcos, he'll make an excuse and promise to get it to you asap.
Here is the real issue: If you were stupid enough to loan it, you shouldn't have it to begin with.
NOT MY way of thinking - that's a little insight into Marcos' mindset. It's a joke to them....in their culture...Who in their right mind would loan ANY amount of money to an acquaintance?
He's laughing at you for being dumb enough to loan it to him and the madder you get, the funnier it becomes.....LOL.
It's a joke, Timothy.....and the joke is on you.
Now, if you want to beat him at his own game, I can tell you how - and it's not an ICE letter....the guy probably barely reads in spanish, anyway....and he is fully aware that he could be deported any moment - an illegal immigrant gets used to it after awhile and if Marcos got you for $9 - he's been around awhile.....
I was trying to help Marcos. He isn't just an aquaintance, I've known him for 2 years as a customer of the Mexican restaurant , and him being a customer of mine.
Yeah, it's a joke, and I'm getting just as much of a laugh out of it as he is.
I have yet to confront him, so how could he get the hint that I'm mad at him ? If I get into a position where I really need the nine bucks, I know where to find him.
BTW, If he gets a kick out of screwing people out of money and getting a laugh out of it, he's definatly working in the wrong place now. If he screws one of those Thais out of nine bucks, he'll be in for a rude awakening. Those nine bucks = 360 baht in Thailand !
Put a Puerto Rican and a Mexican in the same room for 10 minutes to converse and they're ready to hurt one another in half that time....Why?
They don't speak the same language.
It's all Spanish but the words have different meaning. If a Puerto Rican says "I'd love to have a piece of cake," the Mexican takes it like, "I'd love to have a piece of 'you know what.'
Now imagine one guy saying that to another guy!
The bottom line is, Marcos trusts you and you should hit him up for $15 to continue the game. The trick is to not ask for your money back...use the same words he used.....he's obligated to give it back...then the next time, he'll hit you up for $20 and the higher the money loaned, the more confidence you both have.
That's what this is about, Timothy.
Great story! I'll have to remember to never loan money to an illegal alien!
So are you saying that I should ask Marcos if I can borrow $15.00 from him ?
Then he asks me for 20 bucks to continue the game ?
Let me brush up on my math. If I get $ 15.00 from Marcos, I just made $6.00 profit.
If he turns around and borrows 20 bucks from me, I'm still ahead by $2.00 ?
It will never be settled Timothy - one of you will always owe the other and therefore you'll be connected - Get it? In the end it isn't about the money - it's about knowing who you can depend on.
What drives a man to leave Guatemala, cross Mexico and enter the U.S?
You got it - $$$$$$$$
What better test is there? You opened your wallet, it's rude to ask for your money back because (in their culture) you should never loan anything expecting it back anyway.
Now, you play the game. If he was really trying to figure out if you are someone who would not harm him, he'll open his wallet and give you the $15 with a smile.
If he truly wanted to steal from you - he'll make an excuse. He may tell you he hasn't got it and show up the next day - if he does, take it. If he shows up after that, shoo him away - tell him to keep the $9 and to leave you alone - and be blunt about it.
Anyway - LOL...I'm rambling....catch ya later....JB
What's amazing to me is how many assholes read this article and went "yep, here's just another example of illegals stealing from us."
People borrow money all the time and don't pay people back. Has nothing to do with them being Mexican or illegal.
Y'all are pretty pathetic, if you ask me.
Can I borrow 9 bucks from you ?
The word on the street is Marcos ain't gettin' paid by the Thais. Money is the most important matter to the Thais, and they ain't lettin' go of it if they don't have to, and they will scam you out of yours if they can, and I'm not just talking about 5 bucks.
They aren't going to pay Marcos because he is illegal, therefore he can't file a complaint against them.
That's funny!.......Illegals scammin' illegals!
Marcos has gotten himself into these kinds of jams before. He would be better off working at the Mexican restaurant. At least that guy paid him ! ha ha
Have the " Thread Killers " striken once again ?
You truly know very little about illegal immigrants... I don't care how many you "know".... you saw them and knew they were illegal?? How exactly did you know they are illegal..? Please explain... and please don't say because of the kind of work they do... I working in restraunts while in high school...everyone did.. and I also know 2 sisters (white American) who used to work on a "taco truck" or did they just walk up to you and tell you after meeting you for the first time..?
BTW your attempt to speak Spanish is laughable...
"As for the Guatemalan...I think I would introduce him to a godd ol' American ass whoopin" why? becuase he is from Guatemala? for $9? because you think he might be illegal? Talking this way makes you look narrowminded....like because your American your superior?? Maybe they would suprise you and give you a good ol' Guatemalan ass whoopin'.... Oh wait it probaly wouldn't be a fair fight with your posse of rednecks...
Get A GRIP!!! Read the article sweetheart, the guy who scammed the money from Tim was 'Guatamalan':
........"I was having a smoke out in front of my store when Marcos, and illegal Guatemalan immigrant,......."etc.
Amy, if he was from ANYWHERE in the world my statement would still be the same.
".......why? becuase he is from Guatemala? for $9? because you think he might be illegal?"
No sweetheart, it would be due to his dishonorable intentions of borrowing money with no plans to pay it back.
"......Talking this way makes you look narrowminded...."
Your reading comprehension makes you appear ignorant.
"......Maybe they would suprise you and give you a good ol' Guatemalan ass whoopin'.... "
No chance of that happening. ; )
"....Oh wait it probaly wouldn't be a fair fight with your posse of rednecks... "
A Hispanic redneck? Again, your ignorance preceeds you.
" you saw them and knew they were illegal ?? "
Actually Marcos's ex boss told me that Marcos illegal, and that was while Marcos was still working at the Mexican restaurant. This guy also told me that he had 3 other illegal Guatemalans working in the kitchen. He told me straight up !
I've also seen a couple of illegal Chinese immigrants, and 3 other illegal Hispanics of unknown national origin. How did I know that they were illegal ? Because they were arrested for immigration violations during an ICE raid on the Chinese restaurant where they were working.
I've also seen 2 undocumented Chinese workers, and 1 undocumented Thai worker.
How did I know that they were undocumented ? Because they asked me for a job, and all 3 of them told me up front that they wern't allowed to work off campus, they didn't have the documents required for the I-9 form, but they still asked me to hire them and pay them under the table. All 3 also worked at the Chinese restaurant that was raided, but after the ICE raid.
BTW, H.G. never mentioned the word " redneck " , I did. Perhaps you need to learn how to read.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Oh the hilarity.
Ok, sorry. I searched "mexican lasagna rolls" and somehow ended up here. I'm only 2 years late to the party.
Get your $9 back?
