'tis the season...8~(

well...

my ex'mom-in-law fell and broke her hip the other day. She has two pins and a screw in it. Rick says that she's so thin(not even 100lbs) and the doctor has her on those boost drinks to try to help her gain weight(or at least keep what she has).  The doc is also hinting at possible cancer...she's being treated for Parkinsons, tho' they are not sure.  Before all this, I'd stopped over and  she looked pretty good. Then the meds for Parkinsons made her look so much older and tired...and now? I'll probably go visit during the week.  She's in a nursing home for the next 3 weeks(she's NOT happy about that).  Hopefully, everyone's wrong, but...it's life.

And I just got a call from my mom. Our friend Laurie has lung cancer and not much time left. I use to babysit for her girls and they lived right across the road. Like family. What really sucks is no one knew anything. I guess she found out in July, but at that time everything was ok so her docs didn't want to start chemo, and she didn't tell her kids right away (didn't want to wreck their vaca).  The oldest daughter is home becuz her dad isn't eating well so she's there to look out for him(went thru that when Rick's dad died 10 years ago; we all helped to make sure grandma ate).  I guess it just recently got worse...she had a stroke the other night and is in a coma. She be hospiced soon.

I don't know what else to say...
