I have decided that since I do not keep up on current event or watch news much ( I also need stuff to write about), I am going to go to places like Fox News and others online and find at least two current topics that are going on that I feel interested in talking about and hearing what others have to say about it.
I was reading through fox news and happened upon
<h1>Federal Judge Nixes 'In God We Trust' Lawsuit</h1><h1>http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,199211,00.html?sPage=fnc.specialsections/lawcenter </h1><h1>Apparently, U.S. District Judge Frank C. Damrell Jr. rejected a lawsuit about the phrase "In God We Trust" which someone thought it violated their First Amendment Rights. Damrell felt that the words "In God We Trust" are a secular national slogan and does not violate others rights.</h1><h1>The said person is attacking schools to get the Pledge of Allegiance removed from schools due to the phrase "In God" is written and said as part of the pledge. There was a 1970 decision that stated the words "In God We Trust" had "nothing whatsoever to do with the establishment of religion."</h1><h1>Congress first authorized a reference to God on a two-cent piece in 1864. In 1955, the year after lawmakers had the words "under God" put into the Pledge of Allegiance, Congress passed a law requiring all U.S. currency to carry the motto "In God We Trust."</h1><h1>I say that if we keep the words on our money due to it being a national slogan, than our children should not have the Pledge of Allegiance banned either for the same reasons. I agree with others that if we went to another country, we would be expected to convert to their religion. In many cases you would be persecuted for not following the countries religion. </h1><h1>This topic is really a hard one to talk about because there are so many different views on what should happen. There are people who believe that none of this should be allowed, because they do not believe. Does that mean we remove all and any Santa Clauses, tooth fairies, Easter Bunnies, etc., from the market and being talked about just because there are people who think it is ridiculous and unconstitutional that these things are pushed down upon us all.</h1><h1>Just because I do not believe in Santa does not mean I want the idea of him to be banned from our country. Yes I know he does not exist, but my kids think he does. It's the same thing when we talk about God to me. Our country was founded on God. God is a very general term. There are other terms that mean God all in the same. </h1><h1>Ok, I am off my soap box, what all do you think... I really don't want to get slammed I just want to know your opinion.</h1><h1> </h1>

Everyone is so afraid of offending someone, somEwhere, that we as a counrty, group are losing all we used to believe in or every believed. I know there is no Santa, I still enjoy Christmas, I am not Jewish but I think Menorah's are beautiful & I know what they stand for. I like The Easter Bunny, I like 4-leaf clover's (LOL), I think St Paddy's day is a hoot, I like Haloween!!
I think that we as a people, all need to step back, and allow people to believe in, decorate whatever holiday they chose, say what they want to.
The politicians, are supressing our identity, or very being, and isn't that want the Freedom of speech is all about, we as citizens can say what we want!
the problem that i think is dividing us is that some people are trying to impose their beliefs on others.
so, naturally, we will throw the baby out with the bathwater.
there is diversity but there also needs to be commonness. we need to acknowledge that a culture has evolved. but that culture doesn't have to be named as religious in nature.
We live in America and are entitled to our own beliefs. If someone really takes issue with that, they are perfectly free to pack up and move to a country where they are satisfied with the way of life.
