I had 6 kittens in my place once, and they were such climbers that I ended up stapling huge pieces of cardboard in front of my book shelves to keep the little buggers from scaling them. The drapes became tatters. Still, there is something in the unabashed exuberence of a small kitten, that can generate mirth even when you are feeling crabby. This was many years ago. I didn't learn about the awesome deterrent power of a spray bottle until a few years later. My friend has cats that hate being sprayed so much that all they need to see is her reaching for the water bottle to skidaddle. Nice poem.

As the mom to holy terror 1 1/2 year old Darwin F. Cat, I can definitely relate to this. We keep a can of dust off handy - it works as a great deterrant!
Jim, we keep a can of dust off by the birdcages and it works wonders to keep our cat away from them! Darwin is named after Darwin French who discovered a little mining town named Darwin of course at the gateway to Death Valley. Only cat owners can fully appreciate this; we have both dogs and cats so it was great on every level. And as a guy who has actually found himself standing in the shower with a wet, startled cat clinging fiercely to his leg, watching blood circle the drain a la Psycho, and still found himself laughing - I applaud your work!
