Paula Deen's The Lady & Sons Savannah Country Cookbook
One of my favorite people, Paula Deen, wrote this wonderful cookbook in 1997 & published it in 1998 . I have had it for about 7 years & I cannot say enough good about it. Paula sounds like a number of my female relatives who hail from such places as Mobile, Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Pensacola & other parts of what we all call Dixie!
As much as I love cuisines that are not American I also love "good ole' downhome Suth'en cookin'..!" This cookbook is chock-full of such delights as 'She-Crab Soup', 'Oysters In The Patty Shell', 'Black-Eyed Pea Salad', 'Scallops Charleston', 'Veal & Creamed Spinach', & 'Tomato Pie' just list few of the fantastic recipes in this great cookbook!
Recipes can be confusing or they can be simple & easy depending upon how they are written. Paula is a wiz at making the difficult seem simple. Her recipes, even the more complicated ones, are easy to read & understand, something that not all cookbook authors can do well.
Just browsing through this book will make Dixie boy or gal salivate profusely....! It will bring back memories of mon's or granma's cookin'....! There is a sysing in the South, "Born an American but Southern by the Grace of God!" This cookbook spells out exactly why that is true. Keep these good eats coming Paula darlin'.....!
