Why only point out only good or only the bad in someone?

I agree, and love that you have pointed out such a widespread, and important, issue. Although I tend to vote one way, I found myself in the past presidential electtion, really listening to what the other candidate had to say on some issues. There were positives with both, and negatives with both, but I felt that I was able to make a more informed decision.

One thing that really irritates me is... when something goes wrong... whatever it may be... either "all republicans" or "all democrats" seem to be to blame, in the minds of so many. I am a human, a mother, an American. I have my views, which many may disagree with... but if they listened more closely, they may just find that I also have many views that they actually like.

We are all judged in one way or another. It is really sad to me, thinking about some of the people I have in my life that I would not have known, had I judged them on one mistake.

I totally agree with you. What I also don't like, is that they package the politician to appeal to a very narrow type of person. I'm not all Democrat, or all Republican. I don't like to see ads aimed at one sector. You know as soon as they get into office, things will come out that weren't mentioned in these glossy ads. Also, I don't like the personal attacks; what purpose do they serve? It doesn't reflect what kind of civic leader they would be.

ok, so this is the answer, even out the house, we have to do that to give us some time and prove we mean business and then, do a 'draft', just pick someone who seems rational, Arlen Spector for instance, he has gone along with things he didn't want to, because he believes the law will sort it out, or from the other side, Charles Rangle, someone tough, who is in himself strong enough to withstand the push pull winds, anyway, i think we can't let someone press himself in, we must draft one, what say you? For sure we must stop letting the parties pick the candidate, cause they are looking for 'players'

Susan I totally agree. I wouldn't run for an office because I would be scared of what they may find in my closet. I mean what I did as a teenager should not reflect to how I am now. :) Then I was a stupid teen who wanted to do stuff to rebel against my parents. Now I am a parent! I would want people to see the good in me and not the bad things I did years ago!

My daughter actually attended the debate between our 2 candidates for Governor. It was held on her college campus. She said it was like watching two 5 year olds. "She did it...no he did it". The moderator actually said, "well, we are 28 minutes into the debate and all we know is that everything is the other person's fault." We have all decided to vote for the "green" candidate. He probably won't win-but the other choices are just sad.

It's human nature Trish. It's easier to believe the worst about someone than the best so it becomes a political trump card to smear your opponent - a sports team or figure - your neighbor, etc., Politics and Sports are such emotional arenas in themselves that it causes some people to lose all common sense and control.

I totally agree with what everyone has said... What would happen if everyone voted for Mickey Mouse?....Would America become Disney World cuz that is all he knows?... just kidding... had to make you laugh...

i look at it there is good & bad in every person. but they think if they trash each other it will make the ratings go up.
