Sometimes I just get past the rating numbers right into the article. I make a comment and simply forget to rate! I do try to remember.

I rate everything a 10, and comment. If it's not worth rating, I won't leave a comment either.

So far I've only rated articles that I thought were 10s. I feel bad giving someone a 7 or 6 or less.

I am learning to remember. I think I am setting a standard for myself. If someone really took the time to write something up on their own. It deserves a 10. But for those that post games and just copy paste to get stuff rated for more points I will only top them at 5. We are here to write quality stuff. To have fun too, but I want to see more stories, peoms and stuff like that. Games are ok to break things up, but I am starting to see a trend of more games to get points than true articles published.

That is JMHO.

If it's a true article or commentary, and I read it in it's entirety, I'll rate it. If I understand what the writer is saying I overlook typos; I know what it's like to read and re-read and still not see an error.

I don't have to care for a particular article, but if it is a well written, thought out subject I give it a high-rating. I don't give ratings based on my personal taste, a good article gets a good rating, even if I don't comment; because sometimes it's about reading and nothing more.

I don't rate everything I read, mainly because sometimes the "article" is just a comment or something long those lines........If it is a true article and it is interesting, I will rate it....normally a 10 if I like it a lot. I will also rate a well written article whether I agree with it or not.

I will not rate poorly written work

Like so many of you, sometimes I just forget after I've read the article. I also feel bad about giving a low rating. I don't rate games and threads and recipes and...you know the list.

I always rate and only sometimes comment if I honestly feel I have something to add to the conversation. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but I do appreciate those who spend some time and energy to create a good product.

I only rate if I can honestly give an article a nine or ten. Otherwise I don't bother. And I never rate an article without leaving at least a short comment.

If the article is interesting or well written I will rate it. I try to leave at least a smile when I have read an article or a recipe, etc. Games and recipes do not need a rating. Games are for fun. How can you rate a recipe without trying it first.

Thank you all for responding... I am still trying to remember to rate all the articles that I read.. so far I have not given out anything below an 8..... I see that about half the population of gather votes at this point in time....

If I read it I rate it. I feel you took the time to post for my enjoyment and if I got through it and I'm leaving a comment I should give it a rating also. Games, images that aren't original (unless they are really amusing and unique) and articles I can't get through I do not rate or flame! Do the ratings count for anything? Another mystery question.

I have started rating articles. Especially if it is a thought out article someone writes themselves. I will also rate a recipe or a joke. I don't rate games, online questions or want help topics.

If I rated every article I read, I'd have to give poor ratings to a lot of them. Since the rating system is such crap, why make someone feel bad because I didn't like their "article"? I posted a picture that I LOVE and someone rated it a 2 with no reason why. I didn't actually get my feelings hurt, because I still love the picture, but it made me think how silly it is to rate someone a low rating when ther eis no benefit to it. And someone once said rate every article a ten so someone can get points... I think that is REALLY crap and exactly the reason why the rating system on Gather is pointless. (Or should be... heh) I think it would be cool if they built the ratings intot he comment so if you were leaving a comment you could also rate the article, but otherwise not. Just a thought.
