Welcome to all you wonderful woman of the Holy Grill! ;-) Feel free to introduce yourselves, post your questions, your recipes, your ideas, your art....anything and everything. We are here to support each other as we find fun ways to lose weight.
What's your favorite way of staying away from food?
I enjoy making collages. You'll see a few of mind hanging around here and I'll continue to post what I make as I make it.
I have my eye on Knifty Knitters. They look like a fun way to keep my hands busy while I make some gifts and things. I haven't jumped into this craft yet because I'm one of those people who is great about starting a new craft project only to get bored and not finish it. I want to make sure it is something I'm going to enjoy before I invest in the looms.
Making things isn't the only way to stay away from food. Sometimes I get out and take my dogs for a walk. I love this time of year especially. I just forget that I want to take that walk before I have a piece of cake in my hands.
What do you do to help you remember to do something else rather than grab for food?
Here are a couple of questions to get us started. Comment on these or make your own post about something completely different. The bottom line is to have fun!

My name is Lorraine, I live in Michigan, and I'm 70+ pounds overweight. I was always slim until about 13 years ago when I started stuffing myself with sweets in an effort to cope with memories of childhood trauma.
I recently started a business called The MoonDreamer to sell some of the stuff I make. I've always loved making things, but I need to get rid of some of them and also get money to buy more supplies to make more stuff, which I'll need to get rid of! Whew! Do you ever notice that being an artist-crafter can be a vicious cycle?
Lately, I've realized that making art (my most recent obsession is beadwork) is more fulfilling and comforting than eating sweets. But I still have ice cream or cookies every day. So I'm hoping that I can strengthen my desire for making art and decrease my craving for sweets with the help of this group.
This is the first time I've been on gather.com, so I don't know my way around. I hope my intro hasn't been too long-winded. I can't find anyone else's introductions of themselves. Where are they?
I know what you mean about the viscious cycle. I'm looking for places to sell my art. I've tried Etsy.com, which came highly recommended. No one has purchased anything yet. I think I need to do a bit more word-of-mouth on my "studio" on Etsy and get it in some of the search engines. Then I might get more traffic and business. Please feel free to post about your own art, images of art you are selling, etc. You can post to other groups on Gather at the same time that you are posting here, so you can get wider exposure.
I have heard that selling art online is difficult. People really want to see it in person before they buy. I hate the thought of selling at craft fairs, but I may have to give that a shot next year.
