Hello all. I hope that today was a great day for everyone, no matter how ya spent it. I spent it driving out to Galveston and home. Pretty eventful day, I guess when I was offered the load I should have said no, as things went wrong since before I arrived for the pick-up.
First off, according to the shipper, I was 2 hours late, even though my boss said pick up time was for 830. I got that loaded, which by the way was two larger hoses, probably weighing about 90 pounds each. Of course, the shipper refused to take out the front end loader to load these hoses into my truck so it was left to me to help him pick these up. No my job description doesn't say that I have to physical load items, but I was just not in the mood to stand there and argue with this man.
The shipper told me that the man paying this bill wanted to speak to me, this man was very derogatory towards me, asking me where have I been and "can't you tell time". When I instructed him that I was told 830, he asked why couldn't I have been early, well he shut up dry when I answered him I was there at 820, but somehow the shipper didn't leave the shop until 830, can we say someone is lying. I quieted him down long enough to tell him to call my boss.
I came back home to pick up my husband so I didn't have to drive out there alone at night. Most of the time traveling at night is the way to go, cooler, alot less traffic, all meaning I can make better time, but I had been awake with the family at the darn craft show and 4H cookery so I wasn't sure I wanted to travel alone.
Naturally dh slept most of the way, but to hear him snoring, was just somehow and insurance knowing that I wasn't alone. I got to the dock on time, then started making my way home. About an hour later, I was so tired the oncoming headlights were hurting my eyes, so I pulled over. Galveston has these parking areas, near the beach, allowing folks to park and walk to the beach or fish, well that's where I decided to park and sleep.
I love to hear the sound of the ocean waves beating on the shoreline and I was so tired, I feeled as though those waves were somehow my tiredness. I cracked all my windows, climbed into the back seat and slept, dh was out cold on the front seat. After a two hour nap, we both awoke, with the tide going out and the tiredness having left my body.
We ate at this awful mexican restraurant and finally made our way home. Once home, I crashed for about 4 hours, while dh was in the kitchen banging pots and creating supper. This was his first go at making a seafood gumbo and it came out excellent, along with the potato salad it was to die for.
Well thanks for letting me ramble,
Stephanie

Word of mouth, once again, and the messages not getting retold the correct way, is how this all evolved. Instead of the company calling me direct, there was like 5 other people involved and we all know how that goes. 1 person adds this to the story, then the next takes something away from the story....geez. I had done all of that for 105.45....go figure.
