What or WHO (if you've got more than one) is your favorite pet and WHY?

Does my hubby count? LOL!! We don't have any pets at the moment but my favorite pet was a dog named "Walter", a huge German Shepard. He was fiercely protective but yet a softie when it came to all family members. He was also the apple of my hubby's eye!

We had a siamese that we had for 23+ years old, she died a while back. she would lay by me and sleep. She would tap me on the sholder and purr really loud. There are 8 other cats here and none purr as loud as she did. You could sometime hear her purring across the room. She layed beside because she knew I wouldn't let the kids maul her or hold her if she didn't want that. Some of the other cats have started bugging me now. One will fetch a milk ring if you throw it.

We have two cats and two dogs. Rhieon, one of our pit bulls, is my favorite of all of them. She can be such a clown, stubborn, loving, protective, she is my everything (after my fiance of course).

I have to go with Adira's dog (who I have time-share visitation with) Sassy. She is a wire hair terrier and dashaund mix. We have the 'Sassy 500' when she runs around the living room and bounces off of everything. She's the greatest dog!

My favorite would have to be Raistlin, my grey tabby cat. He is the first of my current four pets that I got, and I wouldn't trade one minute of my life with him for anything. He is the typical independent cat unless I have a bad day, when he becomes my nursemaid and best friend. He also has a personality second to none, and loves to talk to me and box with me. As much as I talk about my greyhound Strider, Raistlin will always be closest to my heart.

BTW, the whiskers and solo eye on my current icon are Raistlin's (say hi!).

We have 2 cats and a dog , I would have to say I like my dog better. My cats are too darn independant .

I have a siamese mix kitten and three miniature pinschers.

My favorite is Daisy, my only female. She is normally a quiet dog compared to the rest. She had alerted me when someone was breaking in my house. I even lost her for 5 months and had to basiclly buy her back to get her again. But she was worth all the trouble.

I'm allergic to dogs. My son's allergic to cats. We have fish. Let's just say they aren't exactly cuddly! lol

so many choices, ya gotta limit me some here. Does husband and children count on this one?? LOL
we have 24 chickens, 1 dog,1 rabbit, 1 turtle, and a goldfish.

I have four dogs, Cleo, Toby, Tory and Cheyenne. Cleo is my rescued baby, Toby and Tory are basset hounds bought through private breeders and of course Cheyenne - the dingo who was left behind when our son left home, came back, left home, came back - well you get the picture. different personalities with something about each one that gives them favor but if I had to pick just one it would be Cleo, we just don't tell the other dogs that.

I had an orange tabby kitten named Macadamia who was killed by a dog many years ago. He didn't "meow". He had a sort of "peep". This little dude would go on walks with me. When my car drove up to the house he would greet me. He was the first of a litter of 6 to climb out of the box he was born in. He climbed on top of his sisters in order to reach the top edge of the box. AND, he was absolutely gorgeous.

Marilyn you have had me sitting here for at least ten minutes staring at an empty comment box trying to decide who is my favorite, and I can't. We have 3 cats and 3 dogs everyone a male. I can't pick one! They are all my favorites for one reason or another because each is such a unique personality. Puma our black cat always knows when I am feeling low and comes and cuddles me. Smokey our tabby entertains me with a mean game soccer with any little item I throw on the floor (and even sometimes lets me win). Aries, our orange and white fluff, wraps himself around me each night at bed time and never fusses when I have to get up to let the dogs out.

Comet is the baby (not by age but action) of the crew and never forgets to give me my daily hug (and I do mean a hug just like a kid, arms around my neck and all) Our two new babies (these by age) have become just as dear. Thor is by my side the moment anyone knocks at our door to let them know he will keep me safe.Loki can give one the most adorably stupid look (though he is not really that dumb) that you fall in love instantly, as well as his daily one lick kiss to let me know he loves me. How do you pick a favorite from a crew like this? So ALL of them are my favorite.

Amber - I asked this one now as we had a cat shelter, with one dog.... which had 26 cats and I could never have picked one then either.

I don't have any pets right now, my cat who was my dear friend passed away 10 years ago. I've had fish since then but the time hasn't been right yet to get another cat. I do like the personalitys of cats better because they are more independent than dogs, and I am an apartment dweller so if I do ever get a new pet it will be a cat. I do love dogs too though, if I ever buy a house I shall have one of each. Thank you for posting this article I love hearing about the personalitys of animals to me they have so many sweet and quirky traits.

It would be hard to pick a favorite. If I had to it would be one of our dogs though.
We have four, 2 Collies- Sadie and Zeke. 2 mini Dachshunds- Maggie and Napster. Plus 3 cats- Snickers, Sassy, and Miss Kitty. A couple of Conures, a Cock-a-tiel, a rat, and some fish too. We used to have Rabbits, a Duck, Iguana, Turtles, and some Hamsters to go with them all, but we are trying to cut back, ha ha.
Yes, we have kids!!!!! We blame them, but love animals ourselves too........;-)

My all-time favorite was Brutus, a Pug. He was smart, loving, patient, anxious to please, and a great-looking dog. He earned two obedience degrees (Companion Dog and Companion Dog Excellent) and was one show short of his championship in the breed ring when he died in an accident.

My favorite was a grey tiger cat I named Bliss. She was a sweetie. My first meeting with her as a kitten was while I was hanging clothes on the line. She walked up to me and lay on the ground next to my feet rolling back and forth looking for a belly rub. Her owners left her out for over 2 weeks while they went camping. She was only a kitten. I took her in after watching her eat potato peelings from the garbage. She had a litter of 4 kittens only a short time after I took her in. We kept one of the kittens that we named Twit. They were both loving cats that slept on my shoulder. Bliss passed about 4 years ago and Twit about 3. I miss them still.

I have a 10 year old beagle...Nike. She has always been spoiled, but since the last one left for college, she owns the place!

My favorite was Emma Peel, 1972 - 1992, a brownish tabby, short legs, big green eyes. She was the purriest. My second fave was Siami, my boy kitty when I was a child. One day, I took in a pregnant stray (Feathers) and Siami disappeared, for good. Now we have Mao, a tuxedo, and his brother, Cheddar, an Orange tabby. Mao plays the piano and ets flowers; Cheddar just eats.

My favorite was Big Mac. He was a 90 lb Labrador Retreiver - he was such a great friend! He'd just lay on the floor by my feet as I cooked dinner. He was so funny - he'd usually leave a big old puddle of drool :)) He hated cats - he'd chase them into trees so no cats for us.

We had to give him to our friends to take care of him while I recovered from a very difficult labor & delivery with my son. And, he's settled in very well there and they've asked to keep him. It was a difficult decision, but we know it's best. As we just found out my son has severe allergies (and ecezma) and dogs (pet dander) is a trigger.

Just a few hours at my mom's house (she has a jack russell) and he shows the symptoms. :(( I think it's at the point where if my parents want to see him they'll have to come here...ugh.

It's so hard because Hunter loves doggies!

I don't have cats or dogs, but I do have tarantulas. I don't hold most of them. In fact only one of them will allow me to hold her. She is a Chiliean Rose Hair tarantula, that my mom actually named. Her name is Reddy. Don't ask!

I did have a cat, his name was Shadow. He was sort of bluish gray color. When Shadow was a kitten, he would follow me around the house. He slept in my room at the foot of my bed. When he wanted out in the morning, he would bite at my toes. He was without a doubt my kittie. I want a siamese kitten.

All the cats I have had were each unique in their own way. I love them all dearly. There was only one who decided he was my guy. That made him a bit more special in my eyes. His favorite trick was to jump up on the bed next to me and growl at my DH when he tried to get in bed. That never worked, but he sure kept trying. He was a diabetic and lived for 17 years.

I'm not sure I can choose just one. They all are sweet and have their own personalities. (For those wondering I own: 2 degus, one panda bear hamster, a grey tree frog, one male platty (fish) and 2 ghost shrimp.)

Our pets now are just the transient type: squirrels, birds, and maybe the occasional visiting cat or dog. We feed them all, whatever their walk of life! Historically, we had a great dog named Dingo, who could pull us in a sled (one at a time) to my late grandpa's house. He always knew the route, and was a collie-husky-shepherd mix. He could also catch a Frisbee. Beyond that, our best hamster ever was Herkimer -- probably the only one who never bit us! Hamsters are definitely preferable to gerbils, because they are much easier to catch if they escape!!

Marilyn, We just had to give our fish antibiotics, so I'm not sure I should be the one answering the fish float problem. lol

My little fur-baby Cocoa. She is a love and she is so comical. I love our dog Missy too, but she is much more demanding of attention and that just takes the fun out of being with her.

we have 2 birda, 2 kittens and at the moment 3 dogs. I still have one puppy left for someone to get. But my favorite is my dog LaLa she is a boxer. The other 2 dogs are her puppies.

I have two cats and an elderly parakeet. Growing up though at one point we had 11 cats (2 mothers + kittens), a dog, a parakeet, a rabbit and my pony. I had two mice at one point but they didn't last long.

I'm a big animal lover but I have to say there is just something really special about cats. I can go to the pet store and look at all the cute puppies and cats but it's the cats that make me want to take them home.

Someday I dream of owning a hobby farm, when/if that happens I want to get a goat. :)
