Tonight I confess I made the easiest meal ever. I am going to share my secret here.
Yesterday I was an a hurry at the grocery store. Sue me.
I wanted to quickly buy a few meals that could hold me over until I had more time to do some real grocery shopping. I bought two bags of Banquet Crock-Pot Classics in different varieties, a bag of rice & a few other meal stretchers. I was out of the store in 10 minutes. The Banquet Crock-Pot Classics were even on sale for 4.99 each. I have a large family so I added extras to the meal.
Around 11 am I threw one Banquet meal into the crock-pot on high. It was their Chicken & Dumplings meal pack. I then added some extras.
1 bag of frozen carrots, 1 can of mixed vegetables, 1 can of Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup & of course my own seasonings. Just some extra things I had on hand. I was now ready to relax for the rest of the day. I am not "into" the Banquet brand normally. I like fresh foods and fresh seasonings. In a pinch this was a good easy meal. By itself without my additions it would have still been desent, just not enough for my family. I served this in a bowl with a salad. Even my picky eaters liked it.
And for the record...I threw away the Banquet package so no one had a clue I did not make this...LOL
After everyone had eaten I had some space in the crock-pot and a good amount of food left, so I then added two more cans of vegetables & some canned chicken. ( I have some big eaters who I know will eat some of this for lunch tomorrow.)
Okay, so my secret is out.
More on the Crock-Pot and Banquet Meals from ConAgra below.
The Crock-Pot was introduced in 1971 by Rival as a time saver. Drop in the food in the morning, let it simmer all day and voila!--you have a great meal waiting for you at the end of the day.
ConAgra Foods' family meal that almost cooks itself.
With all the components of a hearty meal included in Banquet Crock-Pot Classics, consumers:
spend less than five minutes preparing Banquet Crock-Pot Classics, eliminating the cutting and chopping of meats and vegetables and the combining of multiple ingredients for sauces
can choose from six meals perfected for the slow cooker, eliminating the time-consuming search for special recipes
have all the ingredients they need in one place, reducing the frustration and expense of extra trips to the supermarket for items they don't have on hand.
"Consumers know they can get delicious food when they cook with their Crock-Pots," said John Hanson, vice president, marketing for Banquet. "Additionally, they don't have to worry about what's for dinner at the end of the day when they are using their Crock-Pot. But those same consumers wanted more convenience, so we made slow cooking even easier for them with Banquet Crock-Pot Classics."

I did add some tumeric & various other seasonings. It was very good after I added everything & it was all done.
Well, seeing how I am disabled with multiple health problems and seeing how the role has changed from him taking care of me to my taking care of him I will need all the help I can get so if I have to keep the crock pot under my bed when not in use then I am going to get one.
I am looking forward to probably messing up the first meal in it! I burn water! I am going to give your suggestion a try and I am going to make a note of it and keep it on my fridge. Thank you.
Good ideas for stretching it to fit your family too. I used to do this with Soup Starter.
A friend made a cake in her crock-pot yesterday. I am going to try that soon for fun.
