Desparate and failing in the polls, the Republicans have now stooped to using Osama Bin Laden in their national advertising blitz, the 30 second spot slated to run on Cable TV starting this Sunday. I remember shortly after 9/11 President Bush and others encouraging us as Americans to live our lives, to NOT LET THE TERRORIST WIN by going into a bunker mentality, afraid to leave our homes.
Yet, this is now the third election in a row that they are trying to use FEAR of a terrorist attack t o steal the election. A couple of days ago when our government thought there was a terrorist threat against seven of our Football stadiums, we were encouraged to IGNORE THE THREAT, to go to the games, to NOT LET TERRORISTS WIN by staying away. Now, three days later the Republicans trot out the fear card, and even worse are trying to use Osama Bin Laden to frighten and intimadate us into STAYING THE COURSE.
This month, deaths of American Soldiers is on track to set a new record for most deaths since the start of the war. Iran has just announced that they expect to be enriching and harvesting weapons grade plutonium within the next five years. The Mini-Me nut case in North Korea has already TESTED A BOMB, and is supposedly in the process of getting ready for another test. If you listen to the Political Pundits in the Republican Party, all of these horrors are deliberately timed to smear the Republicans just before the November 7th Elections. Talk about paranoid thinking.
Fear Mongering is not, and should not be the way to win and election. It is the sign of a failed administration, and a failed Republican Party. The days of STAY THE COURSE need to come to and end, for ourselves, our children, and their children.

Vote your conscience, people.
Shocker! "
Another stupid comment from a wackadoodle wingnut.
Shocker!
Boo! The boogieman is right underneath your bed right now, Philip...you'd better run and hide!
After the threats are ignored and there is another strike, then the GOP will claim that the ennui is the result of faulty Democratic logic and not the emotional abuse of the citizenship with false fear mongering that lead to burnout.
I have to say, though, that the well reasoned rebuttals from the right were so insighful that I had the first good belly laugh in weeks! So thanks for that, and for the well written article, Porgie.
Talk about fear mongering, look at the fear the author is attempting to smear George Bush with, and doing so without a shred of evidence to back up his empty claims.
Fear is all the democrats have in their arsenal apparently "fear Bush he's evil." The American public never did buy that one, which is why you've sat out the last two presidential election cycles (I can hear the wails of anguish now, BUSH STOLE THOSE ELECTIONS.)
FEAR who Bush will appoint to the USSC, FEAR what the "rubber stamp congress" will do with two more years, FEAR the imaginary loss of civil liberties, FEAR everyone and everything and blame BUSH the EVIL pig.
They are pathetic, and if I had someone to wager, I'd wager the "experts" are wrong about what will happen in November.
It's interesting that the GOP is trying to scare the electorate on terror, it's like they haven't read the polls that show Americans now trust the Democratic party more with security. Considering that they're terrifying the h*ll out of voters -- but not offering any concrete action to alleviate the threat of terror -- it may actually serve to drive people to the Democrats in November.
Go, GOP!
BTW, has anyone seen a slate of candidates worse than what the GOP is offering in 2006? Rick Santorum, Conrad Burns, Katherine Harris, etc & co. Just terrible. Do you think they've grown lax since '00 and '04 when they were able to stuff Bush into office? Like it doesn't matter who you run, as long as you have money to campaign with?
Exactly, FEAR what GW will do, FEAR who GW puts on the USSC, FEAR your liberties are being taken, FEAR this FEAR that, it's the only message the demos have, really.
has anyone seen a slate of candidates worse than what the GOP is offering in 2006?
Sure, any list in any election of any year that includes only the democrats.
