One of the things I do - when I have time - is fix people's computers.
Right now I have 2 in my shop. Both of them came in for minor stuff. And both are now in MUCH worse shape than they were when I got hold of them. The lab I taught in tonight had it in for me as well - it seemed like every computer I touched immediately broked. Blue screen...computer will be shut down to avoid future damage... ya da ya da ....
Perhaps i should no longer be fixing - or should that be breaking? - people's computers! LOL
Was offered 3 sections of the same course to teach for next semester... PERFECT! Good money, less prep, no more knot of anxiety worrying about it. I am happy.
Punchy, silly, and very very frustrated with computers at the moment... but happy :)

Today was just one of those days. 1 eletrocuted me ...was actually pretty funny... woman claimed she knew NOTHING about such problems - it MUST have been my fault.
Her kid ratted her out - "Mommy!!!! Remember it gave me a really bad shock that time?"
Disgusted with her for lying.
The other computer is my brother in law's ... I built it 4 years ago ... it's just prone to being a royal pain.... will sort it out tomorrow, one way or another
Not many complaints to date - yesterday a past student stopped me in the hall to tell me all about how he used what I taught him (database) in his work placement over the summer and how impressed they were with him. : ) Not the first, but I love it every time.
I LOVE teaching @ the college level - and the further along I get in my own university studies the more I have to offer, I think. Looking forward to January now.
I live with a geek and know whereof you speak. He manages thousands of PCs for a multinational corp. but everytime he comes near mine he screws it up. Part of our marriage contract is "Thou shalt not touch Nanci's computer unless she asks"

I take care of their mother - HER mother. who is NOT my kids' grandmother - asked her for a few hours on Sunday so that I could drive my kid home after SHE - MY kid - comes up here via a 3+ hour bus trip to take care of HER mother so that I can go to a play that I need to go to for one of my classes (have to write a review). She said no - and hemmed and hawed about covering me off for next Tuesday as well...
I've been invited to do a reading and can't go unless she will take care of HER NOT MY mother *sigh* She'll do it - but gives me a hard time first.
Now it really is bedtime.... tty at 7 ... or was that 6 a.m? I think you should go to breakfast with your friends.
YOU PROMISED!!!!!!!!!!!!
She won't have any accidents, honest!
