I wrote this poem about 8 years ago. I wrote it for my two oldest daughters, to hide away in their baby books. But, it was recently uncovered, and I thought that I would share it with all of you.
So many of us wonder what life is about,
We spend so much time trying to figure it out.
Yet there it is, just before our eyes.
Still, a lingering question, in our minds.
We spend too much time on material things.
But, they have no real meaning.
I want money, but it will bring me no joy.
I want a nice car, home, but they are just toys.
These things alone would have no meaning for me,
without my children, and my family.
I want to be here for you forever and a day,
to wake each morning to the smiles on your face.
To sit you on my lap and squeeze you tight.
To hold your hand as you walk through life.
I'll lend you my shoulder when you need to cry.
I will be your friend as well a s your guide.
I have such pride, just watching you play,
and wish it could always be this way.
Yet, I know, time will draw you out,
so that you may find what life`s about.
Experience and time will show,
its about planting the seeds, and helping them grow.
I want to live each day as if it were my last,
I don`t want to let, a single moment with you pass.
I want to bounce my grandchildren on my knee,
and live my golden years happily.
These things are important to me.
and you my children, are my family.
I am your mother, and friend throughout,
and this, is what life is all about.
